Chapter 2173: Planning for the Second Floor

Chapter 2173: Planning for the Second Floor

Regarding the matter of Xiao Shi, Shu Yu trusted that the Xiang Weinan would handle it, so she didn't interfere much.

The next day was the time for her to inspect the shop.

She arrived in the afternoon, and when she got there, Cen Yi was already waiting for her. Upon seeing her approach, Cen Yi immediately stood up and said, "County Princess Lu, the shop has been tidied up. Take a look and see if there are any issues."

Shu Yu didn't hold back; after all, it's business, and it's better to be clear now to avoid disputes later. She led Ying Xi to walk around the entire shop. The shop was kept very clean, even the kitchen in the backyard was scrubbed spotless, and the scattered wood was neatly piled up in the corner.

Some of the counter boxes that Shu Yu didn't want were also taken care of by Cen Yi, and everything that needed to be emptied was moved out.

After completing the tour, Shu Yu said, "No problems, it's been cleaned up nicely."

Cen Yi let out a sigh of relief, "That's good then. Since everything is in order, this shop is yours from now on. I wish you a successful opening and prosperous business."

"Thank you."

Cen Yi looked at the shop front again, as it was originally her dowry shop, she still felt a bit reluctant.

After a moment, she took a deep breath and said, "Well, I'll take my leave now."

"Goodbye."

Cen Yi, accompanied by her maid, was about to leave when she suddenly stopped at the door. She turned to look at Shu Yu and after some contemplation, she spoke, "Thank you for speaking up for me yesterday."

Shu Yu had questioned Miss Wu Ling's words yesterday, and many people had heard it, including the shop's female assistants.

Cen Yi, as the shop owner, naturally heard about it.

Shu Yu was momentarily taken aback, and when she realized what Cen Yi meant, she shook her head and smiled, "It wasn't exactly speaking up for you. My fiancé and I were also the subject of their gossip, and I didn't want to become the topic of their idle speculation."

Cen Yi seemed thoughtful, nodded, and then left.

She thought that in the future, she and this County Princess Lu probably wouldn't have much interaction.

Once Cen Yi left, Shu Yu went to find Craftsman Ding.

In the afternoon, he had brought his apprentice with him to measure the dimensions and, as per Shu Yu's instructions, would begin planning afterward.

Shu Yu hadn't decided what to do with the second floor yet, as selling goods on the first floor was sufficient for now.

So, she thought about it and decided to temporarily use the second floor as an office, meeting room, and guest lounge, dividing it into three rooms.

This way, when important guests visited or when they needed to discuss matters, they wouldn't have to go to the backyard.

The backyard would solely serve as a resting area and storage space, keeping things separated and tidy, so there was no need to bring guests there.

The second floor already had a few small rooms, but their layouts were cramped, so they would need to be reconfigured.

Craftsman Ding assured her that it wouldn't be a problem, and it would be done quickly.

Shu Yu entrusted the matter to him, occasionally checking in on the progress.

Craftsman Ding was pleasantly surprised by how easygoing Shu Yu was and how much trust she placed in him. A shop this size would normally have someone keeping a close eye on it, fearing that something might go wrong.

Shu Yu's trust made Craftsman Ding feel at ease, and he worked diligently.

Shu Yu had other matters to attend to, and with the shop's affairs settled, she turned her attention to finding a shopkeeper.

Finding a shopkeeper was a bit tricky. Unlike the capital, where officials and nobility were prevalent, here, every nearby shop had connections behind them. Shu Yu might be a county princess, but in the eyes of others, she might not have enough qualifications.

So, the shopkeeper needed to be reliable, handle customers with grace, and be capable. This was a high requirement.
