DevLog Update

Hey peeps,

So it hasn't been a ton of time since the last update but I did promise more information once we got some plans together so I thought I would drop in a few clues on the progress of the next update and where things are because I feel like my past few posts have just been fucked up and more like excuses.  This is probably in-line with most of the update logs you get.

Current Progress

Current outline for v0.16 is completed and we're still piecing together details for v0.17. Right now (subject to change) these two updates together would comprise Chapter 8. The Overview tab is updated and shows a decent figure on where we are. Over the past few days, I've pumped out about 500 lines of code for the rough draft. While we started way behind this month because of the emotional shit I had going on, keep in mind my typical goal for a month was around 1,000 lines of code. The good news is that the writing has been flowing decent so far with the updated outlines that we constructed. I'll also note that I've barely started on the CGs. Reasons for this is that the writing just felt good so I was seriously trying to ride that wave as long as I could. We've also had hella storms rolling through every night after work so being on the desktop has been risky. Also keep in mind that the images are damn near half the lines of code I use so that's 500 lines of just dialogue in this update, we haven't even added the pictures yet.

Keep in mind that we will be continuing to work on the outline for v0.17 while working on this update. While things started off behind, I have every intention of catching that up within the next month or so. But folks, we seriously needed that break. 

What to Expect in v0.16

So now that the outline is done, I can give you a better idea of what to expect in this one. So far, Chapter 8 is heavier again. For those that have been around for awhile, we may be hopping back on the rollercoaster in this particular chapter. I'm still working with some of the wet skins that I talked about before but that's going pretty awful tbh so we'll see about that. However, we will have two new locations that will appear in v0.16 that we'll showcase before too long to tease out some thoughts on the direction of things. This update will have some pretty cool moments that we're excited to share. Some have been foretold or hinted at and some were just bound to happen eventually anyway.

To me, this update is setup and more development and changes in things, while somewhat being resolution at the same time. Hopefully it will remain consistent with the typical updates of being serious in content while still being sarcastic, funny, and emotional all at the same time. 

It's no secret that Chapter 8 has terrified me for a long time. But, looking at the outline for the first half of it... it doesn't look too bad so far but we still have a ton of work to do for the v0.17 side of things. 

Where's the Teaser Pics?

This is the one part of this log that I'm disappointed to report but we're going to keep it real around here like we always do. So because of the writing progress (explained above), the CG progress isn't being done like it normally is. Basically, I had a choice to either do CGs for the scene I finished or keep writing while I was on a roll--I chose to write. Why? Because it's a bitch when you want to and can't and making CGs doesn't really require thought. So I sorta did things backwards. I do plan to get some teasers out there and may be able to drop one as soon as tomorrow but no promises yet.

However, we are working on another set of selfie pics that will run in the month of June so stay tuned for info on that.

That being said, rather than a teaser pic (just in case I don't get it out in the next couple days) I thought about doing something different and just sharing the starting excerpt from Chapter 8 rather than a visual pic for now. So here you go:

 "I feel like part of being a teenager is embracing a free spirit that fundamentally ignores the existential boundaries within the laws of nature. Sure, we construct a substantial part of our identities during adolescence, but maybe the consequence is that we focus too much on ourselves and miss what’s actually happening in the world around us. Sometimes, it's easy to miss that things are changing because time passes whether you acknowledge it or not. Time that most teenagers, like me, take for granted."
