DevLog Update Time!
Added 2019-01-26 20:28:33 +0000 UTCSup.
Hey folks, given that it was sorta quiet at the beginning of this development cycle, I'm trying to stay in more contact during its twilight. Emphasis on twilight because this bitch is getting closer to being done. So here's a quick status update on where things are at.
Script
Rough draft is done. As I've said before, this is the first time Blayke and I are working in tandem on things so we still got a few things to iron out. But for the most part, our communication is going pretty smooth with no hiccups. Blayke has already reviewed the first half of the draft and given me feedback. I sent my rough draft to him on the second part as well but we haven't gotten to talk about that stuff yet. Basically, I'm about halfway through my second draft on revisions then I'll incorporate Blayke's feedback before I go through and really try and put more feeling into it. Good news is the rough draft wasn't awful so that should speed things up a bit.
Also, in terms of length on this one, usually the monthly goal for script length has been around 1,000 lines of code on average. Right now we're sitting at 1.5 months of development time from v0.13 and the current update is clocking in at over 2,300 lines of code. So this one is over double the length of an average update. Hopefully, this will justify the extra time and why we don't give specific launch dates like other games may.
CGs
Good-friggin-lord... Ok...so when I used the word "ambitious" for this update, I knew it was going to be a rough one with all the changes and new sets. However, once you actually get into the trenches and working on it, it became expansive really quickly. It's really hard to explain why it's image heavy without going into specific scenes, environments, and spoilers. Some of you that have seen the previews may be able to fill in some of the pieces, though. However, there's a few surprises left. So this one is image heavy af. Current image count for the update is 207 completed with more in the queue. I anticipate it'll be around 220 by the time it's completed. I think the previous record was around 140 or so for the biggest update. So for those of you who have been skeptical about the time it takes for these things, it's usually safe to assume that longer prep time just equals more overall content in the story. Plus, most of the CGs look pretty good. I still have problems with lighting in a few settings (shower..*cough) but overall, I'm happy enough that I've sent snaps of them to friends to show off :p
Launch Date
Still have to piece things together over the next few days, get with Blayke on the story and talk business, then make the changes and go from there. I also want to get things out to my testers again just to see if they spot anything we didn't. Always nice to have a fresh set of eyes after staring at this thing 5 to 10 hours a day for a month and a half.
While I'm not doing a specific release date, would like to have this puppy out by the end of the month. If that doesn't happen, it won't be long after.
*Crosses fingers*
Hit us up on here or on Discord if you got questions, folks.
