Sure! I wouldn’t mind ^^ And I’m always glad to contribute :) Well… When you start to learn all these things and try to get more into the topic, you understand more and more but at the same time you are having more and more questions O.O It’s almost like you‘ve opened Pandora’s Box. In a good way :D Uuuh, that’s also a really great name for a band! Or at least an album title! I call dibs!!! And hope it’s not taken X)

These are SUPERB questions for the Q&A! And they are important for any budding vocalist to know. We can also go over them together in our lesson on Friday!

On a scale of one to ten, how much of a nerd is Mark? And I won’t believe any answer that’s not at least placed somewhere in the double digits ;D But seriously though… I would really like to know more about how extreme and clean vocals differ from each other. Especially in regards to enunciation and pronunciation, mouth shape and tongue placement… I have the feeling that especially with fry I’m relying too much on the clean stuff X) I’m also interested in how much it is possible to blend all the different registers and vocal styles ^^ Oh… Talking about styles… Is there a common understanding of what exactly all these types of distortion mean (grit, rasp, grunt, growl, tunnel, guttural, twang, scat…)? And what exactly is meant by screaming and shouting? Are these certain kinds of distortions as well or is this more a reference to the base vocal layer? Sometimes I am a bit lost O.O Maybe I should google if there is an official glossary for vocal terminology right after posting this X) Other than that I would like to learn more about the differences between false cords and fry. And I don’t mean how they sound. I would really love to hear more about how it can or should feel producing them. There are a lot of similarities, I think ^^ Furthermore I am intrigued by overtone and throat singing :D And we certainly don’t have to cover all of this ;D - One grateful European folk :D But whom am I kidding?! I would have stayed up for this in any case ;)
