👾 Do you want hacks to reset? ⌨️

When I first made Keystroke I intended to wipe all hacks and change all names every 3 months to keep the search fresh. Later I realized that this was far too often for many reasons.

I did this when I moved it from beta to version 1.0 which made it a fresh experience for many.

Now that the release of 2.0 is nearing us (albeit a slower pace now), should I wipe the slate clean again? The hack database WILL have to be wiped out regardless - I am asking if I should change the names of the hacks to start the search completely over.

all i know is i never use those hacks because when i think it'd be good to use this here only to realise i have none of those bugs

Yeah, I tried doing that but I didn't have the HUD real estate to pull it off and not confuse a new player with too much initial info. What I really wanted was it to show you your 4 highest bug counts always but people either convinced me away from that or I couldn't find a way to pull it off.

My vote is on the "who cares about names for hax just flesh out existing content instead" - That being said, it would be really nice to get the extra bugs on the UI

Pros: novelty in rediscovering hacks, having to limit yourself to a small pool of discovered hacks versus having access to “the best” all the time. Cons: there are so many hacks that it’d take a while to rebuild your database by RNG (more a concern if the names changed more than the one time); the other con is that the names are all pretty fitting, so changing might lead to names that are harder to recall from memory. To me, it feels much like Seasonal modes in video games: fresh starts are a fun option, but less fun if it’s the only option.

I thought about including a fourth option but commenting here can be that vote. Would you mind sharing your pros and cons?

I'm completely torn on this, so my vote is for the invisible fourth option of "I can't decide which is better".
