In Japan, the tradition is for all family members to pick up the remains of the deceased person with chopsticks and place it in a jar. And as you can see in the scene Itadori was the only one there so the words of his Grandpa were even more meaningful. "Surround yourself with people, so you won't end up like me". In the end he was all alone
