Well said, it was such an incredible episode! I was blown away by how well they directed it and shared the true message of Christianity. It really seems impossible for people to reach true love, I'm also "discriminating" a lot just like many people but we should all really strive for it and spread love. Prince Canute is amazing character and Vinland Saga is full of them tbh haha.

2023-03-02 03:03:22 +0000 UTCThis is by far my favorite episode of the series so far. I've never seen an anime touch on spiritual ideas like this. A lot of people have a hard time understanding what the priest was saying but I don't think it's because they don't understand it, I think it's more that they don't want to accept it. We don't want to accept that our love for our mother, father, brother, sister, son, daughter, etc.. is more of a biased than a true love. We want what's best for them when we should be wanting what's best for all. I think the thing we need to understand is that it's not wrong to have a biased love. It's natural. So don't feel bad about it. I don't know if humans will ever be able to fully embody true love but I believe we should continue to strive for it no matter what. Lastly, when Canute says that he never asked to be born a prince and that if he was just born as Ragnar's son everything would of been better. That always breaks me.

Before that he couldn't even speak to anybody except Ragnar, he slowly started to change, he talked with Thorfinn, disagreed with Priest, and saw a lot of death and stuff. It became very rapid when Ragnar died. This reminds me of +1% growth every day, you don't see much but one day it starts going very rapidly (and most see only this work, but in fact, it started way earlier). I would like to talk about Canute's change more but you need first to catch up to episode 5 of season 2 at least or it will be a spoiler for you
