How to Engage in World-Weary Banter

It’s strange. I have the sense that there’s a trope where several characters will share a quiet conversation in which they largely speak in oblique, superficially profound statements. I can think of two good examples.

This one from Ocean’s 12.

And this one from OSS 117: Cairo, Nest of Spies, which I can only seem to find in French with no subtitles. I include it here only as proof that it exists. (If you enjoy the early Bond films, I suggest you give OSS 117: Cairo, Nest of Spies a watch, with the appropriate subtitles of course.)

My point is, both of these scenes feel like they parody an existing trope in spy/heist/shady-people-doing-shady-things movies, but I don’t know where the trope originated. I checked TV Tropes, but it was no help. Any thoughts?
