A lot of people in America don’t know what the procedure for declawing is, and, yes, it’s horrifyingly common here. They see the cat prefers their couch over the small scratching post, remember someone who’d had their cat declawed, and then come to the conclusion that it’s the logical thing to do. I’m surprised to hear other countries have outlawed it, but I agree with that decision.

Declawing a cat is actually illegal in a lot of countries and can cause a lot of pain to the cat and in some cases make them more likely to be biters and generally less friendly. For me, coming from a country where it’s illegal and considered animal cruelty, I was horrified when I went round to an American couples’ house and found their cat was declawed - but all my American friends just said it was normal! I tried to explain it to some people, but sometimes people don’t take it very well!

I recently learned that declawing a cat actually involves amputating the first part of all their fingers, but I’ve been against declawing ever since I was a kid and my grandma’s declawed cat got out of the trailer during construction. She had to tell me he’d gotten eaten by coyotes, which was really sad because he was the cat I had bonded with most while I had lived with her.

Everyone was confused at the beginning, its a film in a film. Its takes a while for your brain to understand haha xD.
I love the ending. They all got a home and i think the mom made a great decision. She has seen what acting has done to her child and now that her life was in danger and no one knew where she was, i think it was the last straw. Instead of just firing that guy, she made them both quit and started a peaceful life in the countryside where her daughter can be a child and play with her dog.
This film shows the different sides of hollywood (what we see and what happens behind the scenes) and the life of animals. People who take animals to have them because they are cute and dump them when they become inconvenient / people who truly love their animals.
This film also has alot of great morals. Its overlooked but really good. Lots of people dont know it exists.
I remember that i saw this film in the theather when it came out! Its was great!

I love this movie. It, still, chokes me up at the end, with Bolt rushing into the fire to save Penny, and then, choosing to lay down and die with her, rather than abandon her. It gets me, because that isn't an exaggeration. There are, many, stories of dogs and cats doing just that.
But for as much as I love this film, at it's core, this is a movie about animal abuse/ How Bolt is treated, when he is making the shows, how Mittens was abandoned. It's heartbreaking, again, because it isn't far off the mark. In fact, it's much more tame than reality.
As for the fire? That part is pretty realistic. Every person on that set would have an evacuation plan, in case of a fire, and their job is to get out, as fast as possible. There should be a safety captain, or something, whose job is to do a head count outside, so the fire dept will have a count of how many are missing. My uncle was fire chief for the town I lived in, and he told me and some cousins about a warehouse fire he was helping with, in his earlier days. It is chaotic and people are panicking. It is very easy for people to get left behind, as everyone is trying to get out. And he said, that to do that is, generally, the right decision. If you can help someone out, do so, but when you are putting your life in danger to do so, your best course is to get out and tell the fire fighter, exactly, where they were, their name, size age. And even the best fire fighting system can get overwhelmed. In fact, many fire suppression systems are geared to help prevent it from spreading, more than put it out. Having said that, that studio's fire response was criminally negligent. With open fire, in braziers like those, there should have been people stand right there with fire extinguishers.

Long story how this one happened: Originally, it was going to be Chris Sanders & Dean DeBlois’ second movie after “Lilo & Stitch”, “American Dog” about an anthropomorphic TV dog star who plays a suave secret agent, road-trips out to Hollywood for his big movie break, and gets stranded in a colorful small desert town. John Lasseter thought it was a mess (and that it shamelessly ripped off the entire plot of Cars), disputes ended up in the directors leaving for Dreamworks’ Dragons movies, and Disney had a title to make an entire movie from scratch.
The fact that this one was so much BETTER than what we would have gotten, was a good early sign for the company.
