Having lived a bit in the dry part of Washington, those are the types of activities that help pass the time while it's 100 degrees outside, and the wind is whipping by at a 30-40 mph clip. Or in the middle of winter when it's 5 degrees and the wind is whipping by at a 30-40 mph clip. You can only watch tumbleweeds blow by for so long before you need to do something different.
