How to Discuss Your Origins

There’s a good chance it was a crazy person related to me.
I will admit, having been one of the least impressive students ever to barely graduate from Sunnyside High School, it was a bit of a thrill to see myself described with the sterling accolade of “notable.”
I’ve said some pretty mean things about Sunnyside over the years. I feel bad about it. Partly because Sunnyside probably doesn’t deserve the abuse, and partly because I’m going to keep doing it.

There comes a point where no amount of civic pride is worth the hassle of explaining what the town is called and where it is located.

2023-03-13 22:28:08 +0000 UTCAs someone "from" Boyertown, PA but actually Perkiomenville, PA, which is ACTUALLY closer to Gilbertsville, PA I understand the desire to eliminate a round of "Where's that?" At some point I quit naming locations and said "Out in the sticks halfway between Philadelphia and Reading. Look at a map and you'll see Pottstown thereabouts." It was the nowhere that had a mall in this chain of nowheres.
