NEW TIER REQUEST!

Comments

Having seen Verhoeven's Robocop and Total Recall, I do. Most of the kids who haven't, who didn't even know this was based on a core-scifi-author book, and who rented the movie because, yahh, CGI things blow up, however, DON'T. And then go on big rants about "Doogie Howser in a Nazi uniform?...That's just stupid!" I don't mean to lump Dillon in with those kids, but the same risk is at play--It's a mad movie, yes, but there's method to it.

I did too. I guess Eric doesn't. I'm starting to wonder, if he even knows what that is.

KittyGuardian

I always considered the movie a satire.

I'm not sure Dillan has watched the movie yet. Making your comment slightly spoilery. Even if you have missed the whole idea behind the book AND the movie. Things can be discussed openly after Dillan watches it.

Kathera Lockharte

It's a strange movie, and gets wildly divided reactions on first viewing (half of the critics put on their worst list), since Robert Heinlein is famous among sci-fi authors for being ULTRA-rightwing to the point of fascist, and nobody except "Robocop" director Paul Verhoeven was crazy enough to do Heinlein's style straight out of the book. There are a lot of other ways a director could have adapted it, but this is unique..
