Treasure Planet

That is sweet of you, thankyou

A tribute to this oft adapted (many dozens in every genre) over 140 year old tale is it's universal appeal and ease of transformation. I haven't seen this Disney version in over a decade, and was delighted to find it holds up well in concept and execution. I'm sure the astrophysicist would have qualms about some of the science-bending effects and situations, but, as Dillon said, it's animation and fantasy, so, meh...Thanks for the choice, AyaaChan. Hope things look brighter in days to come.

And Disney, of course, did THE definitive 1950 live-action version of the original Treasure Island, that you can find on Disney+. (If you say "Arr, matey" for Talk Like a Pirate Day, you're probably imitating Robert Newton as Silver.)

if you like the Muppets, check out their version of Treasure Island.

A few minuts in and you already say what i always think about this movie! PIRATES/ SPACE a CHILD FANTASY!! I told you ! I thought you were going to like it because it has two of the best genre's mixed togheter! I was screaming "YESSS" thankyou Dillon for understanding and thinking the same as me hahahaha! - I love the soundtrack in this movie - I cried more then i thought i would, it just reaches your heart. - I think everything about this movie is so creative, there are so many different kind of creatures and they all look totally different. plus again, combining pirates and space is amazing. - I also love all the characters (except evil spiderman). They all grew in this movie. *Jim , who is a lost boy, finding what he need. Making his own choices to find himself and while doing that, he found someone who helped him, someone to look up to. He had his mother and he loves her but his father leaving like that scarred him. How he developt from a lost boy to finding his own path is beautiful. * Mr Silver, chasing a long life obsession. He didnt care who died and the damage he left behind (look at how he burned their house to the ground in seconds). But he did have a heart. Look at Morph, he loved him dearly. He wasnt incapable of love. And caring so much for Jim shows you that a villain is not necessarily a heartless being. * I wanna say so much more about Dr.Doppler and Captain Amalia but i dont want to make this comment to long haha.. :p. - I also like that they dont drag certain situations. We knew from the beginning that Jim was going to find Treasure planet and we also knew that Silver was the cyborg. They made the right decision to reveal the truth quickly and made a great story around it. Sometimes when you watch a movie, you already know that someone is the villain or the goodguy, whatever. So not keeping it "a secret" is great. It also makes the story more mysterious. What is going to happen now? Everything you already figured out is revealed, so how are they going to make it more interesting? ( i hope you understand what im trying to say. Its hard sometimes to explain things in a different langauge haha). - The animation is GREAT. The moment something is about to happen, there is silence. - tension - And then there is a great BOOOOM with a beautiful animated ..uhh.. boom XD. - A 9/10 for me as well. - I love how much you loved this movie. This truly is a masterpiece. Watching it with you after a few years has been great. Also, i want to thank you. I got very unpleasent news last wednesday and this morning and i needed something to make me feel, well anything. My requested movie came at the right time. Im very emotional right now. Because of the movie, because its so beautiful. But also life is tough. So, again, thankyou Dillon.

Wow...that sounds...rather crazy. You know, sometimes I forget that movies don't exist in a vacuum and that there's all this drama and business decisions happening in the real world around them.

A lot of the reputation for it being “terrible” was a relic of its time: We were just ready to kick Michael Eisner out of Disney, Lilo & Stitch had just come out five months before, and half the audience didn’t even know there was a second Disney film that year. It opened two weeks after Harry Potter 2 and 007, had.a horrible ad campaign (execs didn’t know why Atlantis had flopped, thought audiences didn’t want scifi, and sold the wacky comedy), press analysts were trying to explain a string of other studios’ flops and Shrek’s success with “Is 2D animation dead?”, and when Planet opened third, Eisner haters and crazed fans of weird lil’ Lilo all shouted “GOOD! Serves it right—No more NORMAL Disney movies!” Eisner was so embarrassed, he pulled the film out of theaters before the December board meeting, and then studios discovered why family films do better after Christmas. It’s not the first Disney movie that a video generation has saved.

A perfect example of why you shouldn't take someone's word on how good or bad a movie is before watching it for yourself. I have lost count of how many movies I love that people have said are terrible, and even a couple vice versa, where people claimed they were a masterpiece which I didn't care for whatsoever. In the end, only you can decide whether you enjoy a movie or not.
