I'm a little bit behind the curve. Well maybe I also work too much... :D
Couple of things:
- They left Sam alive because #plot. In the books he was with the other members of the night watch, he was forbidden to fight by Mormont. In the show he fell because the showrunners wanted a dramatic entry for the whitewalkers. And in the end they resolved the situation with a magick cut. Sam is in danger -> cut -> wow he is safe again.
- Tyrion and Tywin sure have a sh@tty relationship. Its mainly Tywins fault, but it is a little bit more complicated. In the books all chapters are POV. The chapters of Tyrion are told fom the POV of... you guessed right: Tyrion. In the show it is objectively told that Tyrion was an awsome Hand, in the book: Tyrion tells us how much an awsome Hand he is. There is a little bit of difference. :D I mean he is a good hand overally, but he made some f* ups in the books. We weren't told that those were f* ups, since Tyrion does not realises it, and it is told from his perspective.
- Also 1 silver coin for a slave is ridiculous. It is not different in the books. I think modern people don't understand slavery because it is long gone. Slaves usually portrayed as cheap and discardable properties of cruel masters. Of course owning a person is horrible, however it was not as grimm as people usually imagine it. Slaves were expensive. It was a profitable buisness. So masters were usually careful with them in simmilar fashion, that if you are a car owner, you don't want to damage your car needlessly. Of course slaves suffered horrible cruelties in certain times, and certain cases, but it was not AS unhumane as it is protreyed in fiction.
- It is also true for the middle ages and early modern times. Cruel things happened. Sometimes unimaginably cruel for our times. However they weren't near as grimm times as they are usually portreyed.

Oh, Dillon, you've reached the season that, for me, has the most gut-wrenching scene of the whole series. And there are a lot of them to choose from. Enjoy!

I’ve always wondered why they let Sam live too. Thanks, makes sense!

Bro, this channel isn't just for GoT. There are literally a dozen things going on in parallel. There are other TV shows, just until recently Marvel movies, Indian movies, Patreon movie requests, etc. Over and above that, Dillon just recovered from a huge health issue. And he also has a family to look after, there's only so much one can do at a time. Have some patience. I've been looking forward for GoT reactions as well, but I understand the delay

I watched the whole series since you finished Season 2. Might as well don't watch it if there are going to be such ridiculously long breaks in between..
