They showed exactly how they used make up to make her 'look' old. Like in many movies, especially for fantasy creatures. They mentioned they use makeup to make her face look a bit darker and older then she really is. She was born in 1975 and by my calculation she was only 37 when they filmed this movie in 2012. It's just make up... Hope this isn't considered a spoiler. I just made rough calculations from what I gathered about the actress and the movie!
