This is a wonderful episode. I was waiting for you to react to this one. But i dont want to tell you: "Dillon the next episode is amazing". Because i want you to go in without knowing or expecting anything. Though this is a beautiful episode like you said, this is only 30% of the 100% . You are in for a treat.
- The reason they normally tell the Avatar of his identity when they turn 16, is so they still experience childhood and being able to grow into your own person. Knowing that you're the Avatar at younger age comes with to much pressure. But they told Aang because they needed the Avatar for the coming war.
Thats why he needed to train day in and day out. As the Avatar you need to learn all 4 elements. And what they said in episode 8: "Mastering the 4 elements takes YEARS of training and dicipline". They were in a hurry. And couldnt let him enjoy childhood anymore. His story is really sad.
Everytime i hear the sentence: "I never saw Gyatso again" it breaks me. He never got to say goodbye to his master/ friend/ father figure.
- Also Prince Zuko was not allowed to speak out, but he didnt understand how they could betray their own people. When the lightning struck the ship, Zuko didnt hesitate to help his crewmember. His people always come first. You can see he has honor and there is good in him at that point. I love how he didnt want to fight his father. His father is a real a****le.
So what did we tackle this episode?
- Abuse/ Forcing a child to grow up fast/ Guilt / Choosing between being selfish or making the right choice / Apologize when you know you did something wrong / Being treated as an outcast by people you loved / Abandoment / Running away / Letting go of the past etc.
Its so intresting to see the Zuko and Aang both experienced these things but in different ways.
Oh! One important thing. They said Zuko was banished to find the Avatar, only then could he return with his honor. BUT at that time the Avatar wasnt seen for 97 years. So he was send away knowing it was an impossible mission. Which means he was banished to never return. But for Zuko it became a life mission. Even though the chance of finding the Avatar was 0.00000% .
Oh btw:
YOU MISSED THE MOMENT WHEN IROH GOT HIT BY LIGHTNING !
Im telling you now because its kind of important XD hahahah.
