Hi Everyone,
When I was a teenager, there was one particular music "machine" that was the stuff of legends: The Fairlight CMI (Computer Musical Instrument), an Australian invention, which was the first fully functional Sampler (you can read about it in detail here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairlight_CMI ).
Compared to my early love of Synthesizers, which I couldn't afford, the Fairlight was in another universe, costing easily 5 to even 6 figures and was usually reserved to the absolute top earners in the music business (like Peter Gabriel, Jan Hammer, Art of Noise etc.)!
But since a few days ago, I own one... well, sort of! ;) The French company Arturia made a pretty good recreation of this classic machine as a plugin, part of their V-Collection. I had a version of this collection, but not the latest that included the Fairlight, until now.
And what better way to celebrate this momentous addition to my arsenal by creating a brand new track with just this one Plugin... It's been an absolute blast to create this. The Fairlight definitely has some quirks and though it may not have the fidelity of modern samplers with its lower bit- and sample rate, the overall sound it produces has a very special and unique vibe that is difficult to achieve any other way. Enjoy! :)
