I believe it was PythonSelken that posited that theory originally. Personally, I think it's neat, but just a coincidence. Either way, what we end up with is a pretty unsatisfying story arc and that just feels shitty no matter how you spin it. If the game was 1/2 the length, maybe it would feel more like a magic trick, but it feels so poorly paced and planned that I can't really give it that positive read. I can't assume positive intent with how lazy and sloppy some of the game is.
