Status Update

I've updated the Trello page with the 14 tasks left to complete. The Trello page is something I really want to restart correctly for future releases. It's in kind of a half-done stage, but I figured it might be worthwhile to put together a quick list of what's on my plate.

I will be working on the game for a few hours Sunday, and I have both Monday and Tuesday set for just Aylia's Story. Let's do this!

When those 14 tasks are done, there will be a release. And then we can build from there. A lot of my prior hang-ups are getting resolved. The resolution increase, inconsistencies, etc. I did rework some stuff, but with the switch to MV, it was important to me.

as good as a plan is, please just finish what already exists. no reworking, no new features. just make it playable up to a certain point and then RELEASE. You can fix and upgrade and add afterwards.

Cool. A flow tool is a good way to prevent scope creep. General practice when you're overdue on something is to defer everything that's not necessary for an MVP ("minimum viable product"). In this case, I'd suggest using placeholders for the art (like, a graphic you have laying around with the word "PLACEHOLDER" photoshopped across the top) and as much of the scripting & mapping as you can. Get something out there. Then, if necessary, add a new release in between the current one and whatever you had planned next, which ONLY contains the stuff you deferred. Only put about half of how much you think you can get done in each release. If you have time left over great, get a head start on the next version-- but do NOT ship it out with the current release, it's just insurance. If you continue to get ahead, great, you've earned a break, or you can have a "bonus" release at some point down the road. But the important thing is to get into the habit of just releasing what you've got every month.
