Release time. There are still a few things I'd like to tweak, so I'm delaying the pledged post until I've made all the changes and am working 100% on Chapter 1. As such, there is a very good chance there will be a pledged post tomorrow, with another release containing Chapter 1 teaser content, and a full changelog.


For tonight, here is release #1 of the long lost 0.10 Beta, which will hopefully turn into a full public release in a few days. I'd appreciate if you would not share it beyond Patreon. I'm also posting a link to the prologue released in August 2015 if you'd like to compare and see how much it has changed. Aylia's Story is a story driven experience, therefore, a lot of work goes into writing, sounds, mapping, quests, and areas beyond the artwork. So, while the artwork has improved and been revamped in most areas, there are huge differences in the script itself. Most of the prologue has been entirely rewritten to better capture the characters, and to try and alleviate some of the criticisms the earlier prologue received. I hope you enjoy the new script, and I will see you for another post at 2am (PST) tomorrow.

I don't have plans for pride changes to go on without the player's knowledge. I do have plans for some of the minor interactions to have subtle changes on things in the future. You can actually even see this is the prologue. If you look at the old Inn's door, it changes dialogue in an event in the future. I'm think little bits of dynamic interactions like this make a big difference in the overall experience. As for replies. I'll keep that in mind. I don't want to not reply to people, but I see your point. Thank you.

See the changelog above. I'm sorry you don't see any noticeable differences, because a ton of work went into this. I said time and again that 0.10 would be the prologue, and only the prologue. As for shortening it, what is there is actually significantly LONGER script wise, so, it depends on how you measure it. Anyways, thanks for the comment, perhaps you'd be happier sitting on the sidelines and waiting to see if releases of content you're more interested comes out in a few months.

I'm curious, will examining various uninteresting looking things in the game world ever affect Aylia's pride or morality without letting the player know about it? I ask because I was doing random interactions with the plants in that one guy's garden, and Aylia actually stole and ate a tomato! While I was okay with this action, if it has the potential to alter her behavior in the future I'd like a warning first. Off-subject, if I may make a suggestion: I wouldn't keep replying to skepticism in the comments section with defensiveness or rationalizations of your own. In fact, I wouldn't keep replying to such comments at all. One of the main complaints seems to be that you make excuses, and replying to those comments with more excuses will just further the perception that they're on-target. While it's comforting to know you care about every individual criticism of the game, to continually challenge critics creates the image of a game developer who's more concerned about allaying the fears of his donors than actually getting a game out on-time.

OK, get that this is free and all, but 2+ years for revamped artwork and some more dialog... no real H scenes, no chance to test out the decision making affects on pride, no chance to interact and make a naughty decision... You can't even talk to the priest or go to the night conversation that you could with the previous prologue?! So 2+ years and you've actually shortened it? I'm sorry, but you're really not showing any progress with this whatsoever... all it shows is that you've essentially been lying to everyone with the posts with the turtle getting closer to the release of chapter 1. I spent ages trying to figure out where i went wrong as it couldn't possibly be this short, but it is... what a waste. I wouldn't bother to publicly release this YT, it's not worth it.

Yes, I got used to it, but I agree. The weapon wheel is on the scripter's list of things to look into. First, Bogwort will default to guard, second, seeing if I can get it to rotate in reverse. There are major HUD improvements on the way as well.

I've largely neglected the battle system until 0.11, as that is an area we've been working with a scripter on. That fell through in late July, but we have a new scripter. For the final 0.10 release, I may end up just dropping the battle system until it is ready in 1-2 alpha releases. One step forward, two steps back...

Isn't that a good thing though? I delayed the pledges because I'll only run it if I'm confident I can fulfill my end of the bargain. I refuse to fleece you guys. If I don't deliver 0.10 in all it's glory before the 31st, I won't run a pledge this month. Simple as that. If I were in your shoes, I'd be happy about that, not displeased. Also, the release was posted when I said it would be posted, was it not?

sometimes the game freezes during the scenes with the mayor, it happends when his son doesn't enter the scene at the right spot

I can see an improvement in the artwork and the dialogue. However, the weapon wheel is counter-intuitive to me. When I press left, I expect the icon to the left to be selected, but instead the wheel turns to the left, and I have selected the icon to the right.

Huh. I notice that there's a section for Pokemon badges in the menu... Is that a joke I don't get, or a glitch (perhaps you copied some code from a Pokemon RPGMaker game and forgot to cut that out?)

Can you release a Mac build? Even if you don't have a Mac to test it on, even an unsupported release would still be appreciated,

To my understanding, this release is a beta that does not participate financially, and will become public later. That of tomorrow, there will be a participation in the financing compared to the Tier that everyone has chosen. If, for example, you chose the Tier $ 10, you will be charged $ 10 (+ taxes, $ 2). That's the difference.

Thanks for the release! Looking forward to seeing the progress! Also, I kinda assume it's a known issue, but I crash to desktop when I use either of the breast push abilities, citing 'Unable to find file Graphics\Picture\Skill - Breast Push_1' I assume that is just content not implemented, but i'm kinda new about here, so just wanted to double check.
