Dev Journal #1

Hello everyone. I started writing this about a two weeks ago, but then thing just went crazy. Instead of just saying, "Hey, I'm working on the game..." I figured I'd try something a bit different. Here it goes.


10/14/15 - Working on finalizing Kira's stuff in chapter 1. Been going through and editing her dialogue... damn, that girl likes to talk! She literally has something to say about everything! And, she is so damn naive.

I'm glad I decided to add an ecchi scene. Heh, we'll see if people find it. As I play through her stuff though, I'm thinking it needs to be a bit juicier. Yep, going to have Bogwort pull on her panties and show off a bit of those luscious lips (if you know what I mean).

*Opens Flash* Begins to sketch out the graphic modification. Mmm, yep, that'll be perfect!

After an hour, back into RPG Maker and continue with the testing. I decide that Kira needs another night scene as well and start scripting a bar scene. Nothing major, but some added flavor. Players will get to experience a good number of night scenes which can advance some quests or just provide a little dialogue between citizens.

10/15/15 - Finished up Kira's ecchi addition. I like it, and so does Bogwort. I decide that I'll give the player a choice whether Aylia allows it to happen or not. Perhaps she wants to punish Kira for being so damn naive...

I reluctantly decide to go back to the battle system, even though I'm kind of tired of working on that particular beast. I start setting up monster skill common events. I need to revamp the stuff I did earlier in order to set it up so that future outfits will work. I also decided that my original guard which increased defense, increased stamina, and fixed Aylia's clothing was too powerful. Now, there is a new method of clothing repair. One leaves Aylia vulnerable, while the other uses an item and is a bit comical :-).

After about 40 minutes, I tire of writing these events and start finalizing the second main quest in chapter 1. This will lead into one of the biggest decisions a player will make, but you'll have to wait and see. I decide that the new hills maps are a bit too sparse and go back to photoshop to add a little more life. In the process, I add a new item to find that leads into a side quest for Vane. I've been meaning to get this one in place for awhile. Pop over to Word and begin to flesh out the quest. Damn, it is 3am... time to sleep.

10/16/15 - Shit gets crazy at work and I disappear... fuck.

10/25/15 - I open up RPG Maker after one of the longer breaks I've taken... Things have finally slowed down a little, but still pretty crazy. Spend most of the night getting back in the groove of things. I write a few side dialogues and jump around the maps making sure all the events are updated to reflect chapter stages. Ugh, kind of a pain in the ass.

10/26/15 - Yay, fun stuff. I start drawing an Aylia flash scene (actually, already had a rough sketch). I absolutely freakin' love how it is turning out. On par with the Triste flash, which I think is the bomb. I'm so excited that I spend all three hours working on it.

10/27/15 - End up working late and don't get to post anything other than a quick message to you guys.

And... that's about it. Not the most amazing thing ever, but I think I might get better as I go. The one cool thing is these journals should give you a little insight into some of the things to expect without spoiling much.

It's quieted down this week thankfully. I even had this afternoon off to work on the game! Pretty nice.

Thanks! These were a bit rough since it was my first attempt. I did not even write down the dates, so my guesstimates might be a bit off :-). I'm writing little entries as I go now, so it'll give me a bit to post about on a regular basis. Essentially, I plan on having regular dev journal posts, lore posts, and then teaser/status updates. So, people will get a variety of stuff to read as we go along.

This sounds like entirely too many CGs. Nobody plays H-games for the CGs. We demand fewer CGs, and an obviously rushed, bug-ridden game! Sigh.

I liked the diary entries, showed off your thoughts as you worked on the game. Good luck finishing ch1!
