Lore Post: Drenkus Humas, aka "Munchkin"

Royal Bestiary Entry #42 - Drenkus Humas

Common Name - Drenk, aka “Munchkin”

Habitat – Grassland, Hills, Plains, Forests

Predominately found in the Northlands. Tend to avoid large towns or groups of people. No signs of agriculture or settlements… Much unknown about living conditions.

Notes – A primitive creature that shows some signs of culture. Tends to travel in packs, and has shown desire to protect their young and burial sites. Other signs of intelligence include primitive clothing, use of primitive weapons (mainly sticks), ability to fashion tools, distinguishable grunting (language?).

Amazing development between youth and adult species. Especially in hands/feet, where motor function appears to improve dramatically. Neither variant tends to be overly aggressive, but will attack in numbers. Shows desire towards human females. No sign of female variant? Local tales of females giving birth to Drenk offspring, but could find no evidence of such.

All attempts to find living quarters failed, and no local hunters appear to have seen such settlements. One hunter spoke of Drenk moving about near cavern/mine entrances… perhaps living underground? Dark pupils and nocturnal activity would suggest ability to see in limited light conditions…

Heard tales of an even older variant, termed “Crazed Munchkin” by the locals. This variant is supposedly much more aggressive and takes on an almost berserk like state when fighting. Did not see this variant firsthand, and chose to not pursue further as information was scarce.

I definitely plan on putting more of these up. They provide a nice break and expand on the world itself. I thoroughly enjoy building the lore surrounding the game!

I would love to see more posts like this! Even if you only include basic images, drafts or sketches. I'd like to see what Sudoh Lu'Kear has discovered about other creatures who roam the lands.

InsaneBrain

Probably, I'd like to add a bestiary, but that would be a later addition. There are pre-made scripts out there that do this. Not all of these lore posts will necessarily be in-game though.

Interesting little lore snippet. Shall we be able to read these kinds of things ingame, in some kind of bestiary?

Mizu

This sounds great YT! You've really put some thought into lore and what motivates creatures to be where they are and do what they do, keep up the great work :D

There will not be full-fledged pregnancy in the game, as Aylia is infertile due to the Great War. Who knows what the future holds though, and if she finds her redemption... well, we'll just have to wait and see. :-)

Beware indeed! Oh, and did you sound out this scholar's name? It should sound eerily similar to a particularly nitpicky editor I know. Just sayin'.

This actually raises a question. I can't remember if you mentioned it already, but will Ayla be able to wind up pregnant? Up to now, considering the extra load of CG Variations on your already massive heap, I thought she wouldn't be, but now that you MENTIONED it in the lore I would like to know :)

Flying Lizard

Ability to fashion tools? Beware the armed munchkins!
