Yeah it's very important to me that Vera and Roja both look like the hero or the villain depending on your pov and that both are acting with the well-being of others in mind. They need to feel like real, well-rounded Good People doing their best, or this doesn't work

The problem with even the best is stability: "Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure... that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth." The USA today is under threat from people who think they know better. "At least they had beneficial intentions... In their own warped maps of the world."
