Update!

Hey y'all! I think it's time for a lil yearly update/roundup. 

SO

2023 was a lot! I published a bunch of works, finished Verdant 2 and Redshift, wrote all of Nexus Alpha, and did a bunch of work on other/smaller stuff :) 

First things first though, I want to apologize.
I know my writing volume has kind of fallen off since Nexus Alpha, and again in recent days. I mentioned a big burnout, which I was recovering from, but then Christmas ended up being... rough. 

There was sexual harassment towards a loved one from a family member, and that's made things really difficult, and on top of that my partner broke their ankle in 3 places. As a result, I've been focusing on them and myself first, before I work on writing. 

I am deeply, deeply sorry that I set a standard for update regularity that I haven't been able to keep up with. Come January I want to get back to a minimum of 2K works per weekday, but that will be a process. 

So what's next?

Well, Verdant 3. I'm running a month behind on it, but ideally, Verdant 3 will be finished in 5-6 months (it could run a little longer). 

Other books I want to put time into in 2024:

• Nexus Alpha
• Complicated Compulsory Comedy
• Further Principles
• Penumbra Series
• Flesh Cathedral

The above are all kinda guaranteed to get time. As for projects I want to put time and effort into, if not finish:

• Loose Change/Flipping Out
• DQ rewrite
• DQ 2
• Far Horizon
• The Invitation

Finally, my "gosh if I have time for these that would rule but I'm not holding my breath" projects are:

• Eris
• Mutually Assured Seduction 2
• My own Pratchett fan book
• Penumbra Victoria spinoff (need a cowriter)
• Not So Different 2

Finally, there's some things I wanna put time into separately from my novels. These include:

• Twine games! If I had the time and energy I'd make visual novels but for now, I have at least 2 game ideas bouncing around my head that I want to work on, and if I found the time that would rule.
• Undercity Hunters, the Not So Different ttrpg + Adventure. A 2D6 PbtA system that focuses heavily on narrative.
• Undercity Hunters - The Board Game, a hidden role/hidden location game about playing as bounty hunters in the world of Not So Different. Think Clue meets Letters From Whitechapel, but with a lot more event cards and bits of story scattered throughout. 
• A Penumbra comic!
• Assassin's Creed video essay perhaps someday lol

So yeah. there's a lot I want to do, and only so much time to do it in. I'll get back to my old rhythm, but for now, I need to focus on healing, for both myself and my partner, and I won't be able to finish/do everything I want to.

I want to thank each and every one of you. I am incredibly, tremendously lucky that I get to write for all of you, and I hope to see you all in the next year as well. Always feel free to read comments, because I read all of them even if I don't respond (and we have a pretty active discord as well). 

2023 has been an incredibly eventful year, for myself and for the world, and I hope things calm down a bit in 2024, but that doesn't mean I'm going to calm down :p
