January P.O. Box Pickups!

Hey everyone! We've decided to start posting pictures of items sent to our PO Box rather than going through them in-depth at the top of the Patreon show from here on out. We figured this would be a better way to share what's been sent with you and to create more communal discussions on everything.

Anyway, here's what we received over the last couple of weeks. If you sent any of these items, leave a comment below about why you sent them with any other general thoughts/opinions you have on them. We encourage everyone else to hop in with their own thoughts as well. Special shoutout to Thomas for getting us those S. Craig Zahler novels that we talked about, can't wait to dive into them. Lots of great items here though so thank you to everyone who sent stuff in!

Any of our Patrons can send us mail, though we strongly prefer stuff related to movies and the podcast. That address is:

I heavily recommend the Dukes of Hazzard movie I sent you a while back, it's a good dumb movie, not something you go in expecting your world view change, you came in for car chases, tits, and comedy

JokersJuicyAss

Yes.

Joe and Ryan ---- have you guys seen "Looking for Mr. Goodbar (1977)"? I'd wanted to see it for years and I finally did. Unfortunately, I was not a fan. Here's my review: https://letterboxd.com/jpvitale/film/looking-for-mr-goodbar/

That Heartbreak Kid bluray has to be a bootleg right?

Chris van Dijk

Hello Joe, are you still interested in Zahler's books? I have a few still besides Congegrations- Mean Business and Corpus Chrome. If you are interested, let me know. I will send it all the way from Poland.

Chris van Dijk

Club Dread is his biggest credit. He also directed a straight to video vampire flick, Midnight Mass ( not the Netflix one )

Scott Ruisch

I feel like it was one of those really successful DVD releases? I remember seeing copies everywhere for a period of time. That and Wedding Crashers.

Almost Cult Classics

Thanks for the Broken Lizard stuff! I think an episode on their movies would be great as I haven't seen any of them beyond Super Troopers. I saw half of Super Troopers 2 but had to leave the theater because my lunch break was over and I had just been killing time. Oh, how I miss you 2018 Movie Pass.

Almost Cult Classics

That's awesome! What other movies has he worked on?

Almost Cult Classics

A friend of mine did special effects makeup for Club Dread. He said the highlight of the job for him was smoking a joint with Bill Paxton.

i love Memories

Smokin' Aces is one of those rare movies that I didn't particularly care for the 1st time I saw it, around the time it 1st hit DVD, but felt compelled to revist it again a couple of times over the years. By the 3rd time, I genuinely enjoyed it. I don't know why I'm drawn to rewatch movies I didn't like initially, but I'm happy when they grow on me. On the other hand, I keep being drawn to the first Suicide Squad film, I've seen it at least 6 times, and I still dislike it. I think the trailer that was cut to Bohemian Rhapsody was so good, I keep hoping the movie will magically live up to it. It never will:( The sequel is great though. Am I crazy, or are other people compelled to repeat viewings of films they dislike?

Ezra Spurrier

I don't know how i missed Hair High. Gonna check that out ASAP. My friend was into Don Herzfeldt so we went to his and Mike Judge's "Animation Show" movies they would put in theaters where you could se the Bill Plimpton shorts and 80s and 90s stuff on the big screen.

Thomas Bishop

Okay so in typical fashion from me I sent the majority of these. Club Dread so Ryan can feel some joy. Slammin' Salmon because it's one night and Ryan does love that, also Michael Clark Duncan stealing every scene he's in, and you two have experience in the career this movie is portraying. Hair High, another typical thing is that a lot of the movies I send to you guys I didn't even watch, normally I watch some scenes before hand but this oh boy this movie is rare, I found it while going down a wiki rabbit whole trying to figure out how many episodes Matt Groening wrote (Never found that answer) I learn he did a voice in this movie, tried to find a clip of him, and there's like no clips of this movie online but the little I saw have a very familiar vibe to them, hard to explain. Memories, I saw one clip and I knew this is the type of movie you watch on a small tube tv while at your cousin's smoking weed in the dark Four Lions found out about this movie while bitching about Sacha Baron Cohen, someone chimed in talking about this movie and it's pretty good Smokin' Aces saw this on cable one of the rare times I have watched cable in the past decade, anyways this movie is fun, multi pro-tags, that mid 2000s vibe, and like I said in another comment those Neo Nazi Methheads I can watch that introduction on repeat

JokersJuicyAss

Including the Neo Nazis Methheads shooting a place up to Ace of Spades by Motorhead?

JokersJuicyAss

We will probably still bring up the stuff we received every now and again. It was just getting challenging to travel back and forth with the packages. Plus, Ryan will be seeing everything for the first time with these posts

Almost Cult Classics

Not one that I would have expected from you Jokester but excellent choice. Really hilarious film but also a really melancholy one at the core

Steven Trotter

Same here, I wanted to hear their reaction to the stuff I send, like their previous opinions or just wondering what the hell I just sent them

JokersJuicyAss

Too bad! I actually enjoyed hearing your reactions to this stuff.

Lux Anatis

Smokin Aces is what I expected from 3000 Miles to Graceland.

Ryan Lancello

It was me

JokersJuicyAss

And more Elaine May comedy for me 🙏

Almost Cult Classics

Man Four Lions is an almost thought provoking film for me, big fan of that one. Shout out to whichever one of you madmen sent that. And some more Japanese cartoons for Ryan. Great

Steven Trotter
