Early Access: Sidetracks - Meeting Alec Baldwin
Added 2024-12-09 16:58:39 +0000 UTC
Hey everyone! Here's our newest Sidetracks episode where we discuss meeting Alec Baldwin. As this momentous event took place at a horror movie convention, we also discuss the convention experience as it was Ryan's first time attending one. Enjoy!
Another movie to do could be “state of grace” 1996

Do these stars handle their own money? Because thats would make it sadder.

I'm not going to lie, I went to a convention last year and got a signed photo from the Soup Nazi too for $30 lol. He actually had his own table at the Celebrity Zoo but he didn't look too happy probably because he didn't have that many people getting autographs, it was a VERY short line.

All of the talk about Cheesestakes reminds me if you and/or Ryan ever go to Arizona I will pick you two up at Sky Habor and take you to Philly's Famous in Chandler, unironically probably the best Cheesestake you can get west of the Mississippi

Ryan calling Shawnee the girl from Becker is the most I've felt like I'm talking to my dad listening to this fucking show. He's a big fan of hers SPECIFICALLY because of that sitcom, he hates horror so he's seen no Saw films

Great talk and I feel I have to share my convention story. My family are all Star Trek fans so they wanted to go to the convention one year. It was like 300 dollars so I said No Way. Well they all gifted me the pass. My memories are this: Walter Koenig was asked by someone to say his line “Nuclear Vessels” during his panel and he would only do so if the audience agreed to go to some website for a cause he was promoting. It’s like just shut up and say the line dick, everyone already paid to come see you. My brothers paid the big money to get a picture with Shatner. This was during his Priceline commercials where he would karate chop prices. So I convinced my brother to do the karate chop when he met Shatner. So he enters the booth and Shatner is sitting in his chair like a wax figure with this half smile on his face. My brother does the karate chop and Shatner didn’t react, didn’t even move. My brother was ushered over, got the picture taken and then was escorted out. Shatner never even blinked. Lastly, one night we were all at an ice cream social in some banquet hall. It was no different than being at an elementary school ice cream social with the cartons just out and you served yourself. So we are sitting there eating our ice cream and this actor from one of the shows comes in, Anthony Montgomery, to promote his rap album. He started singing this song called What You Know About over the PA system. It was at that point I was going to kill myself.

My great uncle was a d-grade actor man Franklin Cover. His imdb page is mostly extra work or some movies or random tv show episodes where he had one line, but the only big named role he had was as Sherman Hemsley's stuffy white guy brother-in-law/foil on 97 episodes of The Jeffersons. He made a whole career out of being recognized as the white guy from the Jeffersons, and I can remember one of the few times I met him was as late as 2003 or 2004 at a family funeral, he was still talking about The Jeffersons. I still think he may have been a rung or two lower than the Soup Nazi on the celebrity meter.

I wonder if they put Mark Metcalf and Larry Thomas together as Metcalf was also in Seinfeld as The Maestro? And that picture with Alec will make me laugh every time I see it!

Got an idea: If the Patreon intake doubles by this time next year, then Ryan has to watch “Jim and Andy”. Isn’t that the one you really don’t want to watch, or am I thinking of something else?

Maybe there's some forced perspective in the shot, but Alec Baldwin looks to be one of rare celebrities who's *bigger* in person than I'd expect 😅
