Did you think I'd forget you claiming the Adam West Batman was the only superhero film you'd ever seen until Deadpool vs Wolverine?

Lux Anatis

I know I will always love Jack Nicholson tho (Joy Buzzers that burn someone to a cinder, Acid Squirting Flowers, Smylex aka Joker Venom, when vicki throws water on him he yells "oh I'm melting I'm melting" like the wicked witch of the west but also coz his flesh makeup is melting off I MISS THAT JOKER STILL A PSYCHO WHO BELIEVES THERE IS NO RIGHT OR WRONG IM GONNA DO WHATEVER I WANT but so many actors/writers lose the clown/campy elements elements

Michael Sgambati

Okay, I mean the Scorsese influence was blatant, and I think the first Joker film resonated with so many people because it was highlighting several relevant societal failures, as well as how damaging unchecked mental illness and isolationism can be. This second Joker should have continued with those themes, and expanded on them. But naww, let's completely dismantle his origins and make it a bad musical with pop songs instead of original songs. And it's ridiculous for them to completely abandon everything about the first film, but be too scared to make it a story several years later, so they chain themselves to the first films events and it takes place almost immediately afterwards.

Louie Caponecchia

You saw my unconventional Frankenstein and raised me an unconventional werewolf. I also suggested you guys do Gigli and soon I'm going to see that you do BAPs.

Lux Anatis

Louie exactly Todd Phillips said “I didn’t wanna make a Joker from the comics movie, I wanted to make a Martin Scorsese/Sidney Lumet/Paul Scrader movie but knew WB wouldn’t go for that so I just slap The name JOKER, change New York to “Gotham”, throw Bruce Wayne, Thomas Wayne, Martha Wayne, and Alfred to shut up fans of Batman and it’s justified to be have the name joker” NEWSFLASH TODD YOUR A FRATBOY COMEDY DIRECTOR NOT THE NEXT SCORSESE/LUMET/SCRADER STAY IN YOUR LANE

Michael Sgambati

We’re probably doing May and Ginger Snaps. Good suggestion!

Almost Cult Classics

I hate how Ryan Reynolds makes me like him sometimes

Almost Cult Classics

He died at the end, so he's not even the real joker

Louie Caponecchia

Finally, something to listen to at my shitty factory job

Louie Caponecchia

Here Joe, just saw this post on Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/MovieDetails/comments/1g5ozyv/in_deadpool_and_wolverine_2024_the_burned_out_car/

SPOILERS: I wasn't sure where the story was going in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. It got to an hour in and didn't know what this movie was about. Once Lydia had to rescue her daughter it got more interesting but it ends too quickly. Her having to team up with Beetlejuice should have happened earlier and should have been the whole movie.

Justin Van Voorhis

The montage of the BTS footage from the Fox Marvel films at the end of Deadpool vs Wolverine was one of the most cynical things I've seen in a long time. Enjoyed the movie well enough but pretending most of those films were anything but dogshit and that they deserved a "farewell" felt insane to me

Tom Goodwin

Cute, young, unthreateningly attractive girl able to play chic disaffectation and ambiguous heritage.

Lux Anatis

If you guys are still unsure with what to pair Innocent Blood, might I suggest 2002s May? I think it's appropriate to match an unconventional vampire film with an unconventional Frankenstein.

Lux Anatis

I don’t get it either.

Anthony Hoffman

Btw a actress you guys like is in Joker 2 Catherine Keener, and Brenden Gleason two great actors but given so little to do

Michael Sgambati

Ok I just loved your guy’s opinion on Joker he’s called the clown prince of crime dresses like a clown so forgive us for thinking he should be funny, campy, over the top hate what has happened to the joker since 2008 with ledger and now Pheonix and please I’ll pay a little extra if you guys could do punisher war zone at some point soon

Michael Sgambati

I doubt Ryan will watch it, but I will definitely be subjecting myself to it at some point

Almost Cult Classics

Say what you will about the movie, the makeup design is incredible

Almost Cult Classics

Hell yeah, I’m here for more Donna Summer in movies

Mary and Steve

Oh bold of you to assume my name wasn't already butt stuff

JokersJuicyAss

They use both

JokersJuicyAss

Macarthur Park is one of my favorite tunes! I’m surprised I haven’t heard it pick up steam on TikTok - Jenna must not dance to it? (Wednesday reference) Do they use the Donna Summer one or stick with Richard Harris’? 👀 Odd that they didn’t pick another Belafonte track, though.

Mary and Steve

Agreed, but I think that separation was made in the cultural ether about two decades ago. I still see arguments for it as if it's some kind of unique, anti-status quo, even revolutionary point of view but is often in actuality more of an abuse of that great, misunderstood CS Lewis quote adults who refuse to cash in their cool drop. Millennials like me grew up and have been running things for quite awhile now. We brought our sensibilities with us and animation simply being an "art style" rather than a genre is one of them.

Lux Anatis

I mean, Norbit was nominated for an Oscar... I'm not fucking with you look it up, nominated for makeup

JokersJuicyAss

Similar to how Joe doesn’t understand Josh Gad: I don’t understand the popularity and the appeal of Jenna Ortega

Luke Gordnier

Jokers Juicy Ass has an entire new dimension to it thanks to Joker 2

Steven Trotter

They toyed with it but then ultimately canceled it after backlash

Luke Gordnier

Don’t the Oscars recognize best achievement in box office or something stupid like that now?

Almost Cult Classics

Ryan, your rant beginning at 20:44 is exactly how I feel about gangstER rap culture down to the last word and why I couldn't enjoy King of New York.

Lux Anatis

Also, Ryan, I learned this today: French Fries were invented in Paris, Texas

JokersJuicyAss

Ryan, you're close now, Gen X is a generation of Gas Huffing morons who wasted their lives on nothing. But as the child of Gen Xers, I can tell you only the real late ones have kids they can bring to Ghostbusters: It's still fucking snowing! It's more so Millennials who this is made for, old Millennials, the kind who bullied a 12-year-old kid online because he liked the Michael Bay Transformers movie I still remember you, asshole!

JokersJuicyAss

I will add to this by saying that you can like movies made for kids and that there should also be a separation of what is adult animation and animation made for kids.

Luke Gordnier

Fucking finally, we have waited Months for your thoughts on Ghostbusters: It's a Bit Chilly Outside. And your thoughts, "It's bad." YES WOOOO *Flips car* THE NEW GHOSTBUSTERS IS BAD *Leaving a trail of destruction* WOOOO!

JokersJuicyAss

You finally saw Smokey and the Bandit Part 3 Ryan? I mean that movie has nudity in it (And that Motel, oh God that Motel), still PG

JokersJuicyAss

I know MacArthur more from Gilbert's podcast I doubt you guys gave the one-hit wonder of X year a listen, but they might be some of the funniest episodes. Also, he showed me how amazing In The Year 2525 is.

JokersJuicyAss

Speaking of Practical and Digital effects, I have been thinking of sending you two the first Bay Transformers movie, not for a main show there's no doubt in my mind there are more than 100K reviews, and most of them are, "This is terrible, Bumblebee isn't a Camaro, terrible, terrible rape my childhood, terrible, G1 Cartoon is better!" but you need to watch it for the effects, Michael Bay is like the last director who can direct action, and this is probably me being a 5 to 9-year-old kid when these movies were coming out, these movies were fucking awesome I don't give a shit if the older cartoons are better, I love the destruction, the sound being nice and boomy, the fact it looks like if I hug any of the robots I will be turn into ground beef, God this is my Problem Child Ryan! These piece of shit movies gives me the drive! At least watch the Bonecrusher scene from the first movie

JokersJuicyAss

I hadn't heard about this so allow me to express my disdain for it. Part of the reason people like the movies that don't get nominated for awards is precisely because they don't get nominated for awards. It's actually a good thing that there's a separation between crowd pleasers and more substantial films. We shouldn't want things like Spider Man to be that influential.

Lux Anatis

Agreed wholly on BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE! It definitely has script problems, but everyone who made it wanted to be there, especially Keaton and Winona and O'Hara, and the practical FX was just damn wonderful. Same for the Danny Elfman score. The lack of sentimentality towards the first film was so refreshing. You're right that practicality makes all the difference in Tim Burton’s work, and I hope this is a permanent shift for the quality of his films. Didn't mind Dafoe or Bellucci myself, though she definitely needed more development. The fact it's still kicking ass at the box office all over JOKER 2 even when it's available at home proves how much the wait paid off.

Jesse Shade

Speaking of keeping Chimps as pets, I saw a pretty good YouTube video about the monkeys learning sign language, and no, they can't, they're dumber than a child. Anyway, I got to learn that Koko sexually harassed the employees and forced them to show her their nipples. Granted, Koko's handler would be the one you put in jail for this. But on the other hand, A Guerilla sexually harassed its employees. is a sentence I never would've even thought of

JokersJuicyAss

This shouldn't need fo be said, but unfortunately it does now.

Lux Anatis

Well, Ryan, when that book I'm writing is done, you're going to, like Chapters 17 to 27, lots of bodies getting dragged across the blacktop.

JokersJuicyAss

Speaking of people getting confused about fun movies with substantial films: remember Kevin Smith making a big tantrum about spiderman no way home not getting nominated for best picture. https://variety.com/2022/film/news/kevin-smith-rages-spider-man-snub-1235179461/

Luke Gordnier

Oh, speaking of Singer, for those who don't know, Bryan Singer is a pedo. He has been known as a pedo since the late 90s, and there have been multi-court cases, this dude never stopped working, he RAPED CHILDREN, and Hollywood was like, "Oh, it's fine, here's more money Bryan" Meanwhile Mel made a drunken racist rant, and he has been put through the wringer

JokersJuicyAss

As someone who loved Deadpool and Wolverine, I completely agree with it being junk food.

Luke Gordnier

The Deadpool movies are like being trapped in a room full of the kinds of people who leave YouTube comments beginning with the phrase "fun fact" all trying to out-Wikipedia each other as if they don't all have internet access. That guy's fake laugh was an acknowledgement to strangers that he was savvy enough to get the jokes.

Lux Anatis

My only criticism of Deadpool V. Wolverine is that they should've had Howard the Duck as the villain, I know it's supposed to tie it with the MCU and blah blah blah, but why the fuck shouldn't Howard be the villain, or at least as a side character. Also the Juggernaut should've said, "I'm the Juggernaut bitch!" it was the best part of the Ratman X Men

JokersJuicyAss

My highlight for Deadpool V Wolverine is the car sex scene. For some reason my favorite scenes in these Deadpool movies is the chaos in a car

JokersJuicyAss

First time I have a horse in this race because not only I saw Deadpool Vs Wolverine, but I recently saw Beetlejuice 2, I enjoyed it, more Ghost World stuff, which is great. Dafoe is the best, I love imagining his backstory. Surprisingly pretty gory for a PG13 film, Jeffery was funny

JokersJuicyAss

Review JOKER 2 Love to hear you guys rip that movie and the first movie a new asshole. I memorized your speech from the Tim Burton retrospective about Jack Nicholson being the best joker since he was a CLOWN not this edgelord philosopher like ledger, and Phoenix
