Next episode suggestions!

Hey everyone, as mentioned at the end of the last episode, we’re going to let one of you decide our next movie! Leave a comment with your pick and a reason why you think it’s worth covering on the show

Comments

The Hard Way with Michael J Fox and James Woods would be my number 1 pick, it’s one of my favourite movies but seems utterly forgotten by time. Second pick would be Trespass (1992) - an amazing Walter Hill action film with a cool cast and was written by Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale.

Heath Chamerski

M with Peter Lorre would be cool.

Bryan - Late Night Paper Cuts

Would love to see you guys delve into Terry Gilliam. Specifically, Brazil.

Bryan - Late Night Paper Cuts

Trancers 1984 by Charles Band owner of Full Moon Features...he's kinda the real Bowfinger like he made fake VHS of his own movies to sell it 3 times the prices in the new EBAY speculation era...only R. Corman and Troma are left from the old school B-movie Silver Age.

Salvador Pereira

This is coming way to late, but I just recently watched Murder by Death for the fist time in years and it's an OK movie, but it is so frustrating because it's almost great. There are moments where I laughed, but there are also moments where it's almost tedious to sit through. There are the defenders who say it's better than Clue, but I think Clue learned a lot from thus movie

Demetreas Andrews

Heckler is a historical artifact at this point🤌👍

Glib Belowski

Future episode suggestion. American Pop. Let Ryan talk about Bakshi some more. There’s a book about him that’s out of print. Definite recommend if you can find it anywhere.

Bill Leon

The villain with kirk douglas, its a live action looneh tunes movie. The career of hal needham would be an interesting sidetracks too. He did smokey and the bandits and hooper. With the fall guy coming out the dukes of hazzard movie, it's bad but it could've been a fun tribute to those 70's car movies. Or since we just lost richard lewis, wagon's east could be a good sidetracks or episode

Gavin Fitzgerald

This sounds rad!!

Mary and Steve

Playing by Heart. Interesting 1999 piece of shit.

Anthony Hoffman

I'd say it's a good candidate for your show when a movie is only streaming on Tubi or Pluto ahd this one's on both.

Lux Anatis

Get ready…

Ryan Lancello

Very excited to hear you fellas discuss it!

Tyler Mammen

I loved Run Ronnie Run, wonder if it holds up

Ryan Lancello

Great picks all around

Ryan Lancello

This is the pick. Good one, been on my list for awhile, will pair well with Cherry2000. We’ll do Marwen for a patreon episode.

Ryan Lancello

Seconding Ghost World! Also hope you don't mind me re-suggesting from our DMs, but here's a few of my suggestions: Run Ronnie Run (the Mr. Show movie), the Mr. Bean movie, more Rick Moranis vehicles, maybe more 70s and 80s Steve Martin (like The Jerk, more in-depth on Three Amigos) and I know you'd discussed Clifford before on your channel but would love to hear a more extended discussion on it. Keep up the great work on the podcast!

Nico Colaleo

JOHNNY HANDSOME. A great Walter Hill flick with Mickey Rourke as a disfigured criminal who gets plastic surgery to look “normal” in an effort to see if it can turn him into a contributing member of society. One of Hill’s best films. Incredible cast.

cdpren

Dragnet

Joshua Vied

Nothing Lasts Forever as an alternate. Bill Murray AND Dan Aykroyd’s lost film from 1984.

Trevor Poe

Twice Upon a Time. It's a little-seen cartoon comedy for kids...except it's actually super funny. The animation is really creative (mixing 2d, collage, live-action.) And Lorenzo Music does one of the main character voices. https://archive.org/details/vts-02-1_20211227

Brian Kish

Welcome to Marwin. It was bad, crazy as Hell, and almost instantly forgotten. Saw it in the theater, and the other moviegoers and I are forever trauma-bonded. Plus, it was directed by Zemeckis.

Trevor Poe

Solid suggestions

Trevor Poe

Miracle Mile (1988), a very underrated rollercoaster ride. Imagine After Hours crossed with Threads

Tyler Mammen

Never liked Drop Dead Fred. My take on it is "Beetlejuice" done as a Lifetime movie. I liked Rik Mayall but I really don't understand the following this movie has.

Scott Ruisch

True. Her got her fired from a Broadway play, I believe.

Anthony Hoffman

Birch's parents screwed up her career, especially her dad. Both her parents had been involved in porn in 1970s and I've read that her dad was a control freak about his daughter's career.

Scott Ruisch

"Where the Buffalo Roam". Not a good movie but certainly an interesting first attempt from Hollywood to adapt the writings of Hunter Thompson. Bill Murray as Thompson is obviously the highlight

Kyle Reitenauer

Another 1999 movie, The Ninth Gate for a Polanski deep-dive.

Thomas Bishop

Mary here: Under the Cherry Moon! Prince’s take on a screwball comedy and directorial debut

Mary and Steve

I've mentioned before how I wanna hear you guys discuss "The Brinks Job" and William Friedkin. You also mentioned a "Blankman"/"Meteor Man" double feature which would be great.

Samuel Moszynski

With Little Monsters as the bonus episode?

Lux Anatis

This is the best one so far. I'd love to hear Ryan's thoughts on John Waters and Serial Mom is my favorite of his.

Lux Anatis

Ghost World. Great film that shows Thora Birch could’ve had ScarJo’s career but she didn’t play the game and it cost her.

Anthony Hoffman

I really, really can't wait for them to do Marwen.

Lux Anatis

I'm pretty sure Bigelow directed the vampire movie Near Dark a few years before Point Break, which would actually be a great companion episode for Patreon in they go with your suggestion.

Lux Anatis

Well, as the guy who keeps asking for Young Einstein and recently suggested the Jaime Kennedy documentary Heckler, I'm going out on a limb and suggesting something you'll most certainly never do: The 1985 animated Disney bomb The Black Cauldron. It was the first animated Disney film rated PG, the most expensive animated film ever made up to that point because it was the first to use CGI, and was the movie that was supposed to have "killed" Disney in what was possibly their darkest period, making it a great excuse to draw comparisons to their questionable status today. It also would be a great opportunity to talk about classic Disney animated features, the Disney renaissance, the princess movies, their perceived sexism, and the extreme over-correction Disney had been attempting for over a decade now, the idea that children's movies of the youth of Millennials had a touch of malice/darkness to them their contemporaries lack, how focus testing can drastically change a film, and just animated films in general. Disney's 1979 live action science-fiction flop The Black Hole or even The Great Mouse Detective would make for a great companion episode for the Patreon bonus.

Lux Anatis

Bonfire of the Vanities you sons of bitches

Steven Trotter

Serial Mom and John Waters filmography discussion. Nothing to Lose. Bonus review of Kung Pow! Enter the Fist. Tough Guys. Sylvio.

Bill Leon

I would say the two Jake’s or welcome to marwin. The two Jake’s because it would give you to opportunity to talk about Jack as well as Chinatown and Welcome to marwin because you’ve been teasing discussing it for a while. There also two movies I sent you

Luke Gordnier

Mystery Alaska! Based on the things and people you talk about, this is a must see. Burt Reynolds. Mike Myers. Hank Azaria. Russell Crowe. Plus it came out in 1999. Weird underrated Jay Roach hockey comedy

Ryan Uytdewilligen

Black Dog given you guys are still on that late 90s kick, and it's something I bought and sent you

JokersJuicyAss

Would love a whole episode for Maverick and the career of Richard Donner.

Nate Gonzales

Well, considering you lads have taken up residence in the 90's, how about reviewing 1991's The Hard Way?

The One and Rory

Got a few… Easy Money. Underrated Rodney Dangerfield vehicle that gets overshadowed by “Back to School” and “Caddyshack” Defendor starting Woody Harrleson. Wished I threw that out to y’all when you covered “Mystery Men”. Probably a better companion than “Super”, in my opinion. “Which way is up?” Starring Richard Pryor. Don’t see alotta people talking about it when they discuss Pryor’s work.

Donald C. Anderson

Point break. I know it’s a classic but cmon. It’s swazye and Keanu. Kathryn bigelow’s first directing job too

christopher cadigan

Drop dead Fred. Phoebe cates is a babe
