Patreon Exclusive: The Rocketeer/The Phantom/The Spirit

Hey everyone, here is our follow-up to our episode on The Shadow. On this discussion we talk about three pulp hero comic adaptations; The Rocketeer (1991), The Phantom (1996), and The Spirit (2008). We also get sidetracked and go on tangents about Sacha Baron Cohen and the current state of Disney. And we of course talk about the stuff you've sent to the PO box. Enjoy!

I’m loving this off shoot conversation about Sacha Baron Cohen and Eric Andre. I think Bad Trip would eventually be a good pick for the podcast. If it had come out at a different time, under different circumstances and wasn’t leaked a year before Netflix released it legally… it could’ve been a lot bigger than it was.

In the Rocketeer comic he takes the jetpack from criminals who stole it from Doc Savage but they for copyright reasons I'm sure changed the creator of it to be Howard Hughes in the movie. The Rocketeer also ends up in New York and runs into the Shadow in the comic. Dan Stevens loved the pulp stuff. Also; the aesthetic and style of stuff like Rocketeer and stuff like Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow gets called Diesel Punk so if you wanted to look up that style look under that term.
