Sweetie and I saw Super Mario Movie, Renfield and the original Land Before Time in theaters last month. Mario was cute, it had all the stuff I asked for: Shy Guys, babies, and good score. HOWEVER, the licensed songs sucked, the Bowser song blows, and Peach was a little too girlboss for my tastes. Daisy is historically the tomboy so I wonder what they’re going to do with her. A sports nut? Awkwafina? AND they used the Battle Without Honor Or Humanity in the first ten minutes and I audibly groaned and rolled my eyes outta my skull. Renfield was fine. Nic Cage doesn’t always do a lot for me but I enjoyed his performance there. I always have been charmed by Nicholas Hoult, though. There’s a neat chunk at the beginning of the movie that I wanted to keep going but in retrospect, I think it was just the right amount of time. Land Before Time made me sad because the print is so bad :( It had the same audio tracking error my old videotape had and it’s so unfortunate that care wasn’t put into archiving it. Temple of Doom is my favorite Indiana Jones!!!
