IU is THAT artist in Korea. This song broken so many records in Korea that BTS's songs are not even close... I don't know much about her but she's the same age as Suga (born 1993). That's why the song is called eight. because they're both 28 (in Korea)

Just like BTS or Mamamoo, she is authentic and honest in her work with good values . She is herself a songwriter and actress too... As I'm mainly a fan of BTS, I don't master all the IU's discography yet but I would say from what I know it's the Asian Taylor Swift. This song is very touching because of its context... the little animated girl running in the forest and the lizard represents friends she lost the year before... And the machine is her way to find them virtually, hence the sad smile at the end... When she wakes up, she is happy to have found them but reality catches up with her very quickly... Suga did a wonderful job of co-writing and production... She is the most awarded female song and collab this year in South Korea. There's even a video explaining this song by DKDK TV if you're interested.
