Time to Move
Added 2021-10-14 11:55:34 +0000 UTCWe have resisted it with all our might, but it is time. Inform has served us well as an engine for many years, but it is dated and can't keep up with us. We've reached a point of not even being able to compile the huge mess that is the wonders of our game.
So, we want to move to a new code base. The trick there is twofold.
One: We have to code the core engine into it.
Two: Content would then need to be re-added to the new engine.
This will lead to an awkward period as we fill out the new place with goodies. Bright side! The engine we're looking at, Godot, will let us work on the web, on windows, on mac, and even publish Android apps!
It will also let us start and keep an interface that does not expect heavy typing, or even any typing. Click the button.
So, I ask, how does this sound to you? Shall we proceed?
If we do, the polls will stop for a while, the money going towards the work of getting this where we want it.

And that’s fine with me! I love a fresh adventure!

2021-10-15 15:12:37 +0000 UTCWhen the game shifts to this new engine will our saves be transferable our will we need to start over? Not that I mind, I was just wondering.

2021-10-14 13:20:46 +0000 UTCUnlikely. They work where they are, and aren't what people ask for, change wise. This is for Flexible Survival.

2021-10-14 12:29:22 +0000 UTCI approve for the potential of an Android app alone. The interpreter I currently use is not particularly suited for how the game's set up. Will the side game's like flexible infection be carried over as well?
