I sincerely appreciate the honest input! I think many folks are in the same boat, to be honest — there's nothing particularly wrong, but they've migrated more towards the live and VOD content. It's a weird spot to be in as a creator, because I sort of get it: streaming is just a better version of LPs, in many ways. It's not always a 1:1 comparison, but there's a bunch of crossover. We'll keep figuring out ways to better differentiate the material we're releasing on StephenPlays. I like the idea of including Patrons engagement for game choices, though I also have to remind myself that everyone here has a remarkable amount of influence on the content already. I guess it's just a lot more subconscious influence than overt influence, like a direct vote would be. Often when ideas are presented (whether for the channel in a general sense or a specific game) I'm writing them down, stowing them away for later. Once we get started on solo streams, I think we'll have more of those content discussions here as well. In the meantime, I'm always reading what everyone says and making notes, sometimes holding them for a long while~

2022-03-03 02:45:30 +0000 UTCI'm sorry the timing of Game Builder Garage lined up so poorly! I had another person tell me that, too. But one of the joys is building your own games and getting a feel for programming fundamentals, so perhaps you'll enjoy creating some things on your own! (And of course, the site still has plenty of material in it as well.) Comments and likes help on videos! From what I've learned, it kind of all goes into an "engagement bucket", which tells YouTube how popular a video is. Lots of likes and comments can go a long way in having YouTube recommend the video to other people. I'm still learning about the system, but the Partner Manager has been really helpful so far!

I think I enjoy these Patreon videos the most out of anything in a month. I can’t really tell you what would be good to do for the channel because I’m sure someone who knows the ins and outs of YouTube can tell you about the right marketing for your channel better. I just have a little perspective as a viewer coming up on 10 years soon. I don’t think there’s anything necessarily wrong. But I find myself not watching the channel as much as I used to. Might be my age and changing interests, I don’t know. I’m still really into the Vlog but let’s play has fallen by the wayside for me as a viewer. Part of that is sometimes the style of certain games are not for me but commonly it’s that the episodes are good but watching the VODs provides a very similar and even preferable experience with the downtime content between. I tend to go to the VOD channel more than the LP channel myself. I had a passing thought on discord based on a dream that reminded me of the Christmas 2017 let’s play voting contest. I might’ve mentioned this before in passing but I’ve noticed the rise of what some on YouTube call a Patreon series where people on Patreon vote for a game and it’s a series on the regular YouTube channel. I was pondering the possibility of something like that where there’s engagement for the Patreon audience like whatever game or idea or other thing that gets multiple nominations here is then put into a list for the general public to vote on, that way there’s something that engages us here as well as the regular viewers. I especially like the options given to Twitch, it would be fun to have Patreon get a little of that. No rush though, especially knowing how hard of a crunch 2022 has been, but something sometime over the course of 2022 would be neat. Doesn’t necessarily need to be voting on an LP but just something with engagement on Patreon I think would be cool. I'm only slightly bummed that Game Builder Garage is going away because I *just* bought the game to play and suggest levels (great timing, oops!) but that's fine, I would've picked it up anyways. It seems like a fun game to tinker around in. Still interested to hear about your YouTube partner updates! I always try to comment on the vlog because I feel like that helps with your engagement, but idk if it matters in the great big scheme of things. It matters to me lol.
