ArTorr Updates: March 2023

Hey everyone! Welcome to the monthly update post! Here's the rundown on what I worked on over the last month, and what I expect to work on in the month ahead...

At the very end of February, I released Lost in The Last of Us on ArTorr. As such, the last few weeks of the month were entirely dedicated to getting the video through its final editing stages and ready for YouTube. Here's what the timeline looked like in the last update post...

vs. what it ended up looking like in the end.

Since then, I've been steadily working on producing Patreon content for the video, as you've likely noticed here.

Because of the The Last of Us video, work on other projects has been somewhat sparse. While I am still steadily researching a father-off video on Andor, what was my B-project in February has now become the new A-project: a video on the Indiana Jones sequels.

Throughout February, I researched the making of Temple of Doom, The Last Crusade, and Kingdom of Crystal Skull. I researched Steven Spielberg's career and personal life, along with the reception of his films. I refined my outline for the video through 2-3 more iterations, and, as of last Friday, started writing the first draft of the script. It is currently near the halfway point, and I expect to have it finished and ready for recording by sometime next week.

So far, this is shaping up to be quite a different video from my video on Raiders of the Lost Ark back in 2020. This won't be an in-depth look at the making of the films, nor the storytelling of them, but moreso an examination of the man behind the movies: Steven Spielberg. I find it very interesting that the Indiana Jones movies are some of the only sequels he's made in his entire career (except for The Lost World). When you look into how Spielberg was perceived as an artist in the 80s, and how he perceived himself then, the Indiana Jones movies take on an entirely new angle, which is what this video is all about. It's personal, and tells a story more than most videos I've done.

I'm excited to share Indiana Jones and The Perilous Art of The Sequel with you (hopefully) at the end of March, or by early April!

There is unfortunately little else to update you guys on. I've not had a great mental health week, and getting the ball rolling (or should I say boulder) on the Indy video has been slow. Nevertheless, I'm doing my best to take care of myself, and prepare for the work to come this month. By the next update, the Indy video will hopefully be completed, or close to completion, and a script on the Andor video will be underway. Until then...

Thanks for reading, and see you again soon!
