Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Fun & Games [5x06] ✦ Watchalong Reaction & Review

And this really was fun and games, indeed.

What a great batch of episodes these two were. I'm looking forward to discussing them! And I can't wait for where we're gonna go from here. [Direct link here.]

Hahaha he's awesome and I can't wait to see him again.

He did a great job at directing this one. About Daisy, I could definitely see her holding back a bit. I can imagine being told that you were responsible for destroying a world with your powers would make you wonder *how* emotional or determined you'd have to be to have that happen, and obvs if she did it again then it would result in the almost guaranteed death of all of her friends and maybe even herself.

Love Enoch. Probably the fastest turnaround time for a new character, especially one that you initially think is a bad guy 'cause he kidnapped the group. Basically, by the end of the episode when Fitz and Hunter find him, I was like, "I really like this guy." By the end of this one, I said, "I love this guy." "I am a Kree...as I have always been, brother." 😆

OK, so a major part of this episode is finding out how Enoch has planned for Fitz to infiltrate the Lighthouse - by posing as a ruthless, reprehensible marauder! Certainly gives Fitz a chance to put his Framework experiences to use, but given that he's been struggling with how he was in the Framework this can't really be helping him come to terms with it. He does manage to pull it off with aplomb though, so for now at least it seems to be beneficial. Just to clarify, Fitz was using an ICER so none of the people he 'shot' during their escape are dead. The writers sure know how to torment the audience: let's let Fitz have an emotional, heartfelt reunion with Simmons, complete with a marriage proposal (!), but we won't let Jemma hear any of it! 😠 At least Jemma immediately proposes once they're together at the end, which gives us a chance for some humour as well! Good fight choreography for both of the fights. More showy for the May/Ben fight, which makes sense given the lack of super strength or 'external' powers involved. Having Fitz end the fight is a good way to allow May to survive - realistically, she shouldn't be able to beat Ben given his (effective) precognition even if she were uninjured, so there's no way she should win without outside help. The Daisy/Sinara fight is quite intense, though I feel Daisy should be able to beat her quite easily - we saw in 3x19 when she was under Hive's sway that she's quite capable of crushing all the bones in a Kree's arms/legs from a distance (and then disintegrating their spine for good measure). Perhaps she's simply not willing to go that far without Hive 'removing' her moral restraints, or maybe she's holding back after Deke told her she was responsible for destroying Earth. What else? We get a new Inhuman - Flint - who appears to have some sort of telekinetic ability. Grill is dead (which seemed to be somewhat deserved TBH), as is Tess (which most certainly wasn't) and Ben (which is harsh but makes sense with what we know of how everything operates here). Hopefully, the team will soon get a chance to reunite. BTW, Clark Cregg directed this episode!
