Severance: Sweet Vitriol [2x08] ✦ Watchalong Reaction & Review

Holy moly, did we get some big information in this episode, just like the last one! Not just so much more insight into characters, but more information about what things are like in the world this takes place in. So nuts.

This episode was criminally short though haha I would have definitely appreciated another 10 mins or so! But that's okay. 😊 See you in a few days for Episode 9! Looking forward to your comments. [Direct link here.]

Right, this has added so much to her character. I can't wait to rewatch Season 1. And yeah, her aunt would make sense. Thanks for confirming what they were sniffing! I def didn't have a clue haha

When I saw this, when she pulled out her notebook, I said, "HOLY SHIT! SHE'S A GENIUS! DAAAAAMN!" And I had SO much more sympathy for her and made me rethink all the times I saw her before and put the info of her past into it and it made a lot more sense when I thought she might've just been crazy before. Cissy, I'm pretty sure, is her aunt. Mainly for the age difference but also because when she was yelling at Harmony, Cissy said, "Your mother..." not "Our mother..." I wonder if her mother always hated Lumon or if she used to be a believer and then soured on them. It might've been that she, like the rest of the town, worked at the factory out of necessity and they just sort of used the town and townspeople up and moved on, then she resented this cult that her sister was in and indoctrinated her daughter into. Maybe her repertory illness had to do with working at the ether mill. By the way, that was ether they were getting high on. It was used as an anesthetic back in the day, for surgeries and other things in the 1800s. I don't know how long it was used for that and when it stopped being used.

I'll have to look into that when I'm done the season!

Glad you enjoyed it! First watch of the episode I was frustrated that we were leaving Mark and the main action. But I liked it more over time and seeing it as more part of the integrated whole of the series. Don't think this was a fan favorite per se, but many seem to have come around lately. There's an interesting behind the scenes vid about the special effects used in the show. They're definitely subtle effects for the most part, but I was surprised by how much of the snow in the series is CGI. They definitely upped the cold, icy feel to this episode especially.
