The Defenders: Take Shelter [Ep 05] ✦ Watchalong Reaction & Review

That's a fair point, I just wish the players of The Hand had been developed across the shows a bit more evenly like Gao was, to build up to this, that's all.

Hahaha yeah I definitely forgot how it looks to normal people. I'm just so used to seeing Colleen with it than without it at this point.

"The Defenders" was never meant to be a culmination of all these characters, much like "The Avengers" was not a culmination of its collected members. It's more that we have these individual characters and when they get together, for an enemy too big for just one of them, they become The Defenders./Avengers, etc. But, after the job is done, they go back to dealing with their own individual problems and villains. The show did feel a little rushed, but I feel the Hand was always an enemy that linked to, almost, all of them and was big enough to bring them all together to fight them. Crossovers in comics are like that. They don't happen all the time, which makes it cool when it does happen. I see a lot of people that watch these shows and/or movies and see The Avengers and constantly ask, in the individual characters' movies, "Why don't they call so-and-so to help?" Because it's THIS character's show/movie. As you know, there are more seasons of all the individual shows left, so they still have their own problems. I will say that them unveiling members of the Hand in this that we've never seen is something that would happen in the comics. I feel they do it to introduce mystery. To say, "Ooh, who's this and what's their part in this? They seem important." I've seen that with villains a lot, but the movies did do it with heroes in "Captain America: Civil War" when they introduced both Spider-Man and Black Panther, with no previous movies. I was just a bit surprised, in this show, at how quickly they took The Chaste out of the picture, off screen even. That seemed weird to me. I was expecting them to be important players. Guess not. There's still 1 more season of DD, Luke Cage and Iron Fist and 2 more seasons of JJ and The Punisher. No one villain is the end all, be all of a group, even if they are the current big bad. Thanos was the culmination of the Infinity Saga, but not the end of The Avengers, per se. Although, he was the end of that version of the Avengers.

I like how you think that someone carrying around a katana is NOT weird. 🤣 I have a replica one and a functional one and I don't take them outside my house and walk around with it 'cause...that'd be weird.
