So, I went away for a while, and I come back to you starting this series. I love this series, but for me, it officially starts with MI3. I feel like that's when they really, finally get a grasp on who Ethan Hunt is as a character and what the tone of the series is meant to be. I will say that I personally feel that the next one... well--it could've ended the series. And so that's another reason why the third one is so important. It basically re-imagines what the series is going forward, allowing it to continue. (I feel like after MI2, if they'd never made another one, audiences would've been fine if it had ended right then.) Now, don't get me wrong . Some people like the next one. So don't let my comment above affect your enjoyment. I'm just saying that if you don't happen to enjoy the next one, that's fine.
