Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: The Inside Man [3x12] ✦ Watchalong Reaction & Review

Yes, I believe that was mentioned before! Perhaps during an episode of Daredevil.

Oh gosh I bet that was freezing. 😂 And yes, I do love the "both sides" thing that Agents of SHIELD frequently does in these stories. It's pretty valuable!

When I first saw it, I said, "Oh, is that caramel?" then I found out it was honey and I called him "Honey Ward" subsequently when I watch reactions. 😁 And yeah, I thought whatever it was, it had to be uncomfortable.

There was a con panel where Brett and Elizabeth debated the relative merits of working with goo & sand and how it got everywhere. Brett did also disclose that the goo was supposed to be heated but by the time of filming it wasn't and therefore was very uncomfortable to film in.

I don't know if anyone ever told you this, but Creel is the one who fought against Daredevil's dad in his last boxing match.

Talbot and Phil the on screen chemistry is fun, omg they got Talbot so awkward towards um everything non american, best way to say it lol. I've always loved Creel his powerset is so fun and now he's on a good guy path so cool. Props to our man Fitzs with his hand tech and the glove/hand print tech !

Chris Elkins

I enjoy the third act too. And yes, Chris' character is one of my favourites.

kaiielle

Great reaction...also, Sunshine is phenomenal movie. A lot of people I've talked to about it don't like the third act; but, personally, I love the movie all the way through. First time I realized Chris Evans wasn't just a pretty face--that boy can act.

Talbot! Always fun to see his relationship with Coulson. Nice to bring Creel back as well, this time as a 'good' guy. I don't imagine when you said "I wonder how long we get to see Brett Dalton shirtless" that a consequence would be seeing Brett essentially naked dripping with liquefied human goo! 😂 As to what the goo actually was, it was a seaweed-based thickening agent (apparently used to thicken milkshakes) - and, although they attempted to warm it up, by the time it came to shoot it was cold, so Brett didn't have much fun shooting that scene (this info is courtesy of the AoS S3 Declassified book BTW) Daisy and Lincoln's fight is as you mentioned a nice little view of both sides - Daisy is probably right that governments would likely force a vaccine on the population, but even if they didn't the general public is likely to be scared enough to de facto enforce it. Even if it wasn't mandated, and potential Inhumans (i.e. those with the genetic markers) were allowed the choice, I feel it's quite likely a lot would choose to take it. Terrigenisis is an unpredictable process, with the potential for receiving very dangerous powers and even physical and mental transformation - it's going to be very difficult to make a choice to go through with that with no idea of the results, especially given that it's irreversible, so I imagine a lot of people would choose the far safer option of never getting powers. I suspect Daisy's history is playing a big part in her viewpoint. She spent her entire life looking for "home", initially through her search for her parents, and has constantly had any home she did find taken away from her. Since she believes that Terrigenisis made her "who she's supposed to be", being an Inhuman is not only a big part of her identity now, but probably feels like a key component of "home" for her - which explains why she is so protective of it.

Yeah it was done pretty realistically that's for sure! And I couldn't help but feel like Brett looked uncomfortable in that shot of him. 😅

kaiielle

I'm not sure if you're the type of viewer who stops the video before my reviews or not, but I did talk about the things you mention in your comment in my review! Including X-Men.

kaiielle

I am pretty sure Brett did not like being covered in goo lol. Sometimes it sucks being an actor. I think it was either honey or caramel they dipped him in. I bet he was very sticky. Very haunting imagery being surrounded by skeletons. It really reminds me that all of our skeletons are wet and red like that until they are cleaned.

Probably budget.

Just in time for lunch. Anybody know why Henry Simmons wasn’t in this episode? They didn’t even mention Mack’s sudden absence. When I saw this episode back in 2016, it served as a bit of an eye-opener. I won’t go into a lot of detail, but a lot of themes that were brought up in this episode mirror some of the topics we deal with in the real world every day. Since you’ve seen the X-Men films, Kaiielle, it’s fairly easy to compare this episode with some of those themes that were explored in those films most notably The Last Stand. Just like they developed a counter agent to the mutant gene using Leech’s DNA, they also developed one that may potentially reverse the inhuman transition. I feel like the events of this episode made Daisy and Lincoln swap ideologies. There was a time when she wanted to give her powers to someone else until Lincoln helped her accept that part of herself, but then after Jiaying’s attempted ambush on the boat he began to question that on his own.
