Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Purpose in the Machine [3x02] ✦ Watchalong Reaction & Review

Fun to see Professor Randolph again - seems it would be useful to have him around more often, if only for consulting, but that doesn't seem like something he'd be interested in. Ward reminding us just how capable he is (as if we needed reminding!) by effortlessly getting through Werner's guards - and unfortunately, he seems to be building Hydra back up quite successfully. Interesting that his apparent right hand is the guy he smashed into a broken glass at the end of last season.

Sean Ellingham

I can definitely see that too! It's fun watching them evolve.

Whats interesting about the team dynamic is seeing everyone dealing with taking on a semi different role right now and they all have their own paths but still come together when needed to pull off the greatest save in history. The growth of the young actors of this show is another thing that amazes me, I think Clark Gregg did help them by mentoring ect.

Chris Elkins

Yes, it's so good!

Def going to be interesting seeing Ward act as Garrett now. Appreciate everything else you've said!

Great reaction, as always! I like what you said about AoS not dragging things out or making you wait. The writing is pretty good at just "doing the thing" and moving the plot along.

Another great reaction. So many familiar names and faces. Let's start with the small stuff. Von strucker's son Werner makes a surprising appearance. His father was killed in Age of Ultron by Ultron himself. We talked about how last season Ward has become Garrett and we see a direct parallel with him telling Werner the same thing Garrett did after he left him in the woods for months. "I brought tacos". The Asgardian reappearance is also interesting because that episode 1x8 was a very Ward centric episode. Andrew returns to Shield full time after working for Coulson a bit last season behind May's back. He gets to psychoanalysis the team this episode which is always fun but now it seems Ward is using spies to watch him because of course he wants to get back at May. Ironically this is the reason may was so cautious about her father. Daisy is also growing as a character and her powers continue to be used creatively to solve a problem. Fitz jumping into a hole without knowing what would happen or if it would even remain open is Crazy but is one of his best character moments. Simmons of course is back! Last season she overcame her fear of alien things only to be thrown into an alien world and had to survive for months.

Christopher simeon

Completely agreed! I really like him.

I truly love everyone in this show but Iain De Caestecker's acting impresses me more and more each season! I really felt the desperation and determination from Fitz in needing to get Jemma back!
