Hello my dear Patrons. Many of you told me that they liked the perspective tutorial. I know that Perspective is the Nasty Beast first every artist ! So here goes another one. I photographed every step of constructing this ambitious comic panel for you. Here we go:
we’re in the fantasy world of Ekhö, in China. The set is a giant sculpture inspired by the Buddha of Leshan.
I start with a tiny sketch on the script. Here I decide the camera angle.
I create a reference board with Google.
I start creating the base of the perspective. As you can see I do it freely, without being too “mathematic “. The target is telling the story, not becoming an engineer!
I add the masses and volumes. this part is very important!
If I’m ok with the volumes, I start adding details inspired by the reference board.
Once I think I have enough details, I scan the drawing and adjust some thing with photoshop.
Now I can print it and ink it. I normally use Staedtler pigma pens and Sakura brush pens (my ink style is partly influenced by mangas)
Hop I think it’s done! I added some tiny birds to show the scale of the sculpture. I hope it works :)
Ok, I really hope this can inspire you or help you in your own drawings! Let me know!
Hugs
Alessandro
