Pin-up process: Vampirella

Hello my dear patrons. I recently did this new commission, my interpretation of Vampirella. It’s a little hotter than other images I did but, well, she’s Vampirella :) so why not!

It’s always very difficult to take a good picture of a watercolor illustration, but you can see the difference before the filter modifications.

Pin-Up inking

Hello my fantastic friends! Still working on some new Pin-Ups. The “Moulin Rouge” dancing girl is one of the most loved subjects, how bizarre ;)

here I tried a different composition, putting the two characters in an opposite pose creating a sort of X. Grace is a little higher then Fourmille for adding movement end a better reading of the image. Soon the colored version! And more more pin-ups!

Pin-Ups preview

I’m actually working à some new pin-ups that I want to share with you before I post them in IG (or exclusively here) with some process shots.

Here goes a Poulin Rouge’s Fourmille pin-up. As I often do, I make the drawing with ocre Derwent pencil. Then I ink with pigment pens. I will soon show you the colored version.

Early Access: watercolor video

Hello my dear friends

I post a new video for you! If you wish to paint with your watercolors, here is my process once again. The challange here is to find the skin tone: it's a mix of warm grey and red, with a lot of water! To create a contrast, I use more intense tones on the wigs and the costumes.

The paper is Canson (250 gr/mt) and the watercolors are, as always, Schmincke.

Hello my fantastic patrons!

As you may know, I HATE doing cover illustrations XD but every 6 months I have to do one or two ... or sometimes three! Argh!!! Anyway, I want to share with you a super ultra private "avant premiére": the rough art for the cover of my upcoming book  "Les Soeurs Grémillet" vol. 3, out in June 2022!

The main character is now the third sister, Lucille, and the story is set on a beach on the north of France in late October.

So, enough of sunny ...

Halloween Special #1

Hello my dear patrons! I hope you have nice plans for this Halloween! I want to celebrate it with two special videos: the painting of Cornelia and Hay Lin from W.I.T.C.H.

here goes the first one! The main challenge is to find the beautiful blue/green of the costume! I started with my favorite blue, Prussian, and added some greens randomly …. And I liked it!

yes, another video XD I’m proud about my achievements as a video maker ha ha ha so I want to share them!

Here goes another watercolors video . I used my actual favorite watercolor pigment: Prussian Blue!  The result is always intense, cool and warm at the same time.

it looks like it’s VideOctober :)

here goes another preview: a video about the painting process of this new illustration.

It started as something really simple, and it came out kind of nice, I think. I’m really satisfied with the “sexiness “ of the image. The dragon line in the background is simple but effective. What do you think about it?

Again, I am using Schmincke watercolors with a reservoir brush on Canson mixed media 250gr/mt paper.

I’m preparing some new pin-ups for a show in Bruxelles, so I take the occasion for showing you a little process.

It’s à simple image with no background. You can see the steps for creating the pose, the head and body construction , the details of the face, hair and costume.

The inking is done with Sakura pigment pens.

I hope it will be useful to you for creating your own drawing :)

As always, the script is made by the ultra-talented Christophe Arleston. The color art will be made by Nolwenn Lebreton, as for the rest of the volumes of the series.

We open in Brooklyn, with a restaurant scene: a double-date that won't end as they thougt (but as readers wished, I think :)

EKHÖ Mirror World t.10 limited edition cover: coloring!

SO, this special ultra-luxury limited edition of Ekhö volume 10 has been postponed to September due to the virus thing, so we had some more time to prepare it.

I already showed you in the previous posts the making of the drawing, and the portfolio pages of this edition.

Now I can show you the definitive color cover  image :)

as usual, the color art is by Nolwenn Lebreton, the official color artist of the whole Ekhö project.
