I got a new job! (The future of this Patreon)

After months of searching, I've scored a new job--and it's full time! I'll be leaving the Writing Center and likely putting teaching MFA classes on hold. The job is to be an Administrative/Marketing/General Assistant for my town's independent newspaper. I'm a little worried, admittedly, the job sounds a little chaotic and it means I'll have so much less downtime, which I'm kind of mourning. But I had to take a step forward in my career path eventually, and this will make it easier to support myself. The job doesn't have a lot of benefits, but that's better than the none I had before with my part time jobs.

I'm not sure what this will mean for the future of the Patreon. I'll have a lot less time to do this, and likely won't be able to keep up my current pace. On the other hand, the job might not work out, and then I'll have thrown away my favorite job I do for nothing. So for now, we're going to keep going as usual. I might not be able to finish the liveblogs next month, in which case I'll do the thing of freezing the Patreon and finish up throughout that month.

Whatever happens, I do know I want to keep this going in some form, at the very least doing the monthly liveblogs and finishing up some liveblogs we're close to the end on--so the Patreon's sticking around regardless, it just might be in a really reduced form if I find I can't hack it.

Comments

I've been late catching up on Patreon messages, but congratulations too! Good luck, and please give yourself time and space to adjust if you need to.
