STEP BY STEP // #ToonMe picture
Added 2020-03-23 09:00:04 +0000 UTCHello my Patrons. I know I'm more then late with this #ToonMe thing XD but it was in my ToDo list, so here it is! I recorded every step so I can show you here. THANX again for your support here on Patreon. This is what gives me the occasion of doing things like this.
SO: I chose a picture I had on my phone, a picture I took last summer at a photographic exposition, a silly selfie like many others :D it inspired me this ToonMe image.
The thing is: as I am free to re-design me as I want, why limiting to a toon portrait? I decided metamorphing me in this kind of SkyDoll-ish satyre!
I used a main background color as a base, and I sketched with brown.
I decided to open the eye for it will add a note of white, it will help create a vibration.
Once I'm satisfied of the sketch, I pass to the definitive line on another layer. I do it in black as I'll be able to color it later if I need it.
I start coloring using a color taken from the background, and I modified it a little to have a warmer blue. I obviously have to copy the lighting from the original picture.
I use a soft, round brush taking care of staying simple and clean, I never want to exagerate with modelling and values.
I put some brown elements to create a contrast. I think about Sky Doll's ROY character!
I add some little lights and some dark pink around the eye and on the nose to make it look more alive.
... and that's it. It's a very simple image. The target was more on the idea than on the technique.
