This whole thing Rand is doing on the mountain here is a perfect analogy for martial combat actually, but also extends to life. For the martial combat aspect, it is an aspect of know your enemy and yourself. You figure out your opponent's pattern, and you find the gaps in it, but it is not a good idea to keep dancing to your opponent's tune. You need to create your own pattern to counter theirs. Most people in the nexus who approach "the grand pattern" are dancing to the pattern's dictates. It very much reflects how they also dance along to the tune of the nexus. But, Randidly who is opposing the nexus is also the one to create his own tune when he takes on the grand pattern.

2021-07-10 02:15:22 +0000 UTCIt kinda sounds more like he's being set up to evolve Glittering Leaves in this coming section, or during this rest period, with the emphasis on sunlight. If he evolves Absolute Grasp at all (it is at the transcendent rarity already, so it might not) then I expect it to happen in the fifth step, when he finally learns to fully control the natural energy and "grasp" it. Crucible will probably evolve when he reaches the summit, passing entirely through the crucible of the mountain. It could add a physical component + additional image suppression to the existing Skill, or maybe a way to reach the summit of the Eidolon Crucible. Finally, I think Exodus and Genesis are going to be the ones to incorporate the shades he encountered, making them "real" (Genesis) and leading them off of the mountain (Exodus). Imagine the ghosts of the people you killed attacking you at Rand's behest or something.
