That's my exact mindset regarding this update and everything regarding Sonic Superstars. I'm tired of excusing mediocrity because "We've had so much worse." when we could have so much better.

2024-03-15 17:48:06 +0000 UTCThe first 3D sonic game I've ever gotten at full price....man I'm never doing that again. I think the game was fine overall just really not for me. I didn't pick up the game after finishing it the first time and I only picked it up when the final horizons came out. Back when knuckles had that jank glide and when I didn't know there were new challenge towers and when you had a stricter time limit on easy mode. Needless to say I'm rooting for the next game to be a banger....I'm just not gonna be in any rush to pick it up like I did this game.

2024-03-15 16:18:57 +0000 UTCI'm not even halfway through the video, but damn it, time to be a contrarian: I LOVED going after each memory token. Sure, it isn't all that visually stimulating, but it sure a shit tickled my adventurous side (or maybe my obsessive compulsion) something fierce. And being able to really see all of the islands' platforming challenges helped me get more out of islands like Ares or Chaos, which I feel are otherwise left by the wayside once you get into either finale.

I am tired of people excusing bad or mediocre games with "well it's a step in the right direction". Okay? Then when exactly are we ARRIVING at our destination? Because Sonic has been "a step in the right direction" for 20 years now.
