Lust Complex news

It's been some time since my last post. I've been quite busy between family stuff for Chinese New Year and working on Lust Complex and I still didn't complete everything I wanted for v0.2 yet, but I thought I should share some information about how it's been going.

This post will focus about a new tenant parameter: Satisfaction, which will play a major role in the game. 

I updated the room/tenant interface (the one you get when clicking on a door to interact with a room or tenant) to display all the necessary information in a simple way. In v0.1, your reputation, which allows you to get better tenants the higher it is, was simply increased by a passive "Fame" attribute gained by building better rooms. However after some testing, it made the game a bit too linear. There are many games similar to this and I feel like this becomes a bit boring after some time because it's a bit too simple, those kind of games could as well be some VN with simply a skip button. I want Lust Complex to have some deep yet simple and fun gameplay.

Which is why I decided to remove the "Fame" and instead added a new "Satisfaction" tenant parameter which you'll have to properly manage if you want to progress in the game. I tried to add it in a way that made sense : To satisfy a tenant, you'll have 3 ways close to what you could expect in real life.

• The rent is lower than what she should pay
• The quality of the room is higher than what she deserves
• The reputation of your apartment is higher than what she deserves

As long as a tenant is satisfied, the player will receive some positive gossip each week, which should make things more entertaining than a fixed "Fame" income. Moreover, this new parameter is all based on a tenant rank which makes the progression even more interesting to play, the higher rank the tenant, the harder it will be to satisfy her.

This also solves the dilemma I had about how to handle the Fear parameter coming from the blackmail feature. With only the Fear, Blackmail and Corruption parameters, it made the tenants react a bit too straightforward. Now, the Fear parameter will not be the main factor to determine if a tenant decides to leave but instead, will impact negatively the weekly Satisfaction calculation, negative impact reduced by a higher level of blackmail and corruption. It allows the player to make some mistakes during the game but still have time to compensate for them. It also kind of make sense to justify why a tenant would stay in an apartment even if she is blackmailed (ok it's a bit stretched but well :p).

I could have delayed this feature and just deliver sex content as I initially planned but after some thinking, I wanted to avoid what happened with Glassix, where some core features (like the skills feature or job feature) arrived way after the initial release and confused a lot of players. My aim is to implement all the core features right away (and I should be done soon sine the game won't be that complex) then simply focus on adding more H content for the game. I also only talk about it now because I had to review several already completed interfaces as well as the tutorial to implement those changes. It's still not complete yet but since I could show you the new interface now, here is the post. I want to keep you in the loop as much as possible since many patrons still wonder what kind of game Lust Complex will be. When v0.2 is out, I'll add Lust Complex to my list of on going game with a complete introduction post (v0.1 was too lacking to deserve that)

Due to this as well as other changes, I've been a bit delayed in my initial schedule to complete the blackmail feature and add the first sex animations. I'm not sure I'll be able to deliver v0.2 this month due to that but in the event I can't, patrons who have been pledging the required amounts this month will still receive the v0.2 version even if it only comes next month. Or for patrons feeling cheated, simply message me to get a refund and a proper apology from me.

I hope what I'm explaining here makes sense for you. I'll post about the furniture management in my next post and will do my best to avoid delaying v0.2.
