The "Anime around the world" concept is so interesting to me. Not anime but there was this Japanese Sherlock Holmes styled live action TV show called Shintaro/The Samurai that was HUGE in Australia in the 60s, like "They staged a live version play of Shintaro with the original Japanese cast in Australia and it sold more seats than the fucking Beatles concerts" huge. Like my dad talked about how when he was a kid he and his friends would go outside in their robes doing Samurai swordfights with gumtree sticks and using tin lids as shurikens. This was some Naruto Weeb shit but for Australian Boomers its mad. I remember my auntie saying that Astro Boy was also pretty popular here but she could never watch it because she found the story behind Astro Boy too sad.
