Demigod AU - some updated colors --
Added 2021-02-26 09:44:47 +0000 UTCI've been incredibly anxious lately and decided to go through some old wips and such to try and find something fun to do or motivate me.
I found an old comic mock up that took place in, what was once known as the False God AU, now actual Demigod AU, and I decided to just go over it again.
I was fueled entirely by anxiety so ended up not fully rendering everything but- ya know, I did a thing.
I really love how much brighter Julien's outfit is, before it was really muddy and didn't fit the setting, he's also less murderous, I mean, he still out there making murder but it's more sacrificial now. Adding the AHKJ crew makes him more stable emotionally but he still comes off as emotionless to people who don't know him.
AND as an actual demigod he has powers! He mostly uses them to intimidate, he likes to get his hands dirty but here he blasts some foliage away to scare Kowalski, who's only just found himself in this reality.
I spent a long time trying to find a good middle ground on how I draw Julien lately, cartoony but with enough realistic anatomy that he still looks like him but nooot? I don't know. Adding Pancho to more stuff too.

Tsu, this is fantastic! Out of all the AUs you've cooked up, this one is really starting to become my favorite! ^^ It really paints Julien in a completely new light and allows for all kinds of interesting possibilities, plus seeing Julien in an intimidating manner is really strangely satisfying. I always loved the cold stare he gives off and I think he does it a lot better than his mother. Toning down his cruelty a bit by adding in the rest of the cast to make him more stable is also a very nice touch: No matter what universe Julien is in, his friends really help warm his heart. ^^ (Extra kudos for more PONCHO!) Definitely a plus on giving him real powers too. :D I also think the colors on this look absolutely amazing, even if this isn't fully rendered (it almost gives off the appearance of a painted animation cel). The bright colors definitely suit his costume really well indeed, and also make it look like they actually glow, giving him a more divine appearance. I totally get the middle ground design as it's always handy to have a more SFW Julien on hand when he's not wearing clothes to make some pieces more accessible to all viewers. That and some tame stuff every now and again never hurts either. :3 I think the added bulge, a little extra fluff on the crotch, and a slight glimpse of the naval through the fur is a really nice compromise. It's actually a pretty common design choice for people who interpret fur characters without clothes in a tame way while also keeping their anatomy out in the open. Perhaps having a very loose shape of a slit at the very bottom through the fur might work as well. Keep up the great work as always, Tsu! Always good to see updates from you. ^_^
