About IoM Extra Content, 4k YouTube Videos and the Discord Incident. ๐ฎ
Added 2023-05-03 20:00:03 +0000 UTCHello people!
As some of you may know, there was an incident with some followers on Discord a few days ago, which resulted in some permanent bans ๐ฎ. I believe that discrediting a creator publicly is not an appropriate way to handle things. Still, I always like to analyze situations, and it's possible that there was an error on my part. For those who are not aware of what happened, I will briefly explain.
When I started developing version V 0.08, I purchased a new computer to increase the speed of the game's development. With this new computer, I can work faster and do more things simultaneously. As a way of thanking each and every one of you who supported me and made it possible for me to buy this computer, I decided to give more of myself and start providing more extra content (photos, videos on YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, etc.)
I thought everyone would be happy with this decision. After all, it means more IoM for everyone, right? But... nope, I was not right, it seems that a minority did not like this decision, and that's where things got a little heated on Discord ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ. My assumption was that everyone would be delighted since it's a way to keep receiving extra things between releases.
Some users got upset and said I was wasting time and should only work on the game to make faster releases. This was said in a not-so-friendly tone ๐ I even deleted some of the messages, and my first reaction was disbelief. Is someone really going to complain because I'm giving more to everyone and trying to bring weekly extra content?
This is where I probably made a mistake. I was working to create new things and provide people on social media and Discord with more content, assuming that everyone would like it without explaining the process. In the end, with more than 1500 people, everyone can have different opinions, so I suppose I should have explained the reason why I'm offering more content, and that's what I'm doing now. ๐
Working on this extra content for social media, Discord, etc., does not mean the game's development is slower. For example, many of you know that English is not my native language, and working on the texts/dialogues, checking them with Grammarly, etc., takes me a looooot of hours/days. While I work on this, I create simple 4k images that don't require as much attention as the game's images. This means I'm doing practically twice the work in the same amount of time. Another example, while I work on an animation for the game, if all the other things related to the game are done, then I create posts on social media, etc. (It would be easier for me not to do this, but I decided to give more content to everyone even if some choose to give me a whipping, ouch! ๐)
Perhaps it was my mistake to assume that everyone would be delighted that I was creating extra content and working at the same pace on the game without explaining this beforehand. However, again, a minority misinterpreted my intentions, saying that creating this content was a waste of time and that it delayed updates. It doesn't feel nice when you work twice as hard, and a small group judges the work you're doing so harshly. (But again, maybe it was my mistake not to explain this way of working in advance, but it's also not an excuse to be aggressive and try to degrade the work I'm doing in front of everyone. I see bad intentions and a bullying attitude, which is why they got permanently banned).
--- Final Thoughts ---
The conclusion is that even though it's practical twice the work, I will continue to do both things at the same time simply because I love developing the game ๐๐ฅฐ, creating new things for everyone, maintaining an active community, and because I have also received many messages of support and indicating that they love this extra content. In fact, many have asked me to make the next 4k YouTube video about Jess ๐คฉ, and I will soon fulfill their wishes. ๐๐
Don't worry. There will still be extra content, the game's development is just as fast, if not faster than before, and all of this is a way of thanking all the people who have supported me all this time. My motivation remains intact. It is so much that I love developing IoM that it is practically unbreakable. ๐
My imagination/craziness ๐ is so much that I've been since more than 15 days ago talking to the OnlyFans support team because they closed an account that I created to share with every one of you for fun. I'm still discussing and exchanging many emails with them, trying to explain that digital girls also have rights! ๐๐ (The account I created will have all the content for free, and maybe they don't like this, I don't know if this is one of the reasons why they closed it. But I will keep fighting!!!)
Remember to join IoM on Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Twitter, and other social networks so you don't miss anything! Here is the current Linktree, and I will keep expanding it. (100% of the content is free, for Fansly, the only requirement is to have an account and be logged in because it is an adult-only website.)

Many more new and cool things are coming ๐คฉ, and soon I will make a post to start giving more insights of V 0.08 ๐. I'm truly sorry if someone got worried because I didn't explain this before. From now on, I will try to explain decisions like this beforehand instead of assuming things.
Have an amazing week, everyone! ๐ And more extra goodies will keep coming! ๐

Thanks for being honest. So we are looking until June for 0.08?

2023-05-08 17:30:53 +0000 UTCYes, that is also a positive side of this extra content. For example, when rendering animations, they take a long time, so to make a great H scene, a loooooot of days are needed (I don't mentions hours, I mention days ๐) So while doing them, it's refreshing to change of topic that keeps the creativity flowing, doing extra stuff for everyone. ๐ป๐คฉ And I really love the developing process and learning new things, so I enjoy doing all the extra stuff too. ๐

2023-05-06 20:59:43 +0000 UTCHey Buxom! ๐ and that's ok. ๐ Not everyone can like or have the same opinion. The important thing in which I failed is that I didn't explain that doing this extra content will not affect the pace of the next updates. It's not like the next update will be released in 9 months because of this. ๐ So people don't have to worry. ๐

2023-05-06 20:55:40 +0000 UTCThanks a lot, Naka!!! ๐ Everyone has the right to express themselves and show different viewpoints. The important thing is to do it constructively. This kind of game takes a lot to develop, and even more if you are only 1 person doing it, so I think it's very cool that instead of going radio silent for 3 months, to keep posting extra stuff for everyone. That way, the waiting is less 'stressing' hehe. I think extra-goodies are never bad. ๐ I'm glad that you are happy so far with IoM ๐ and more cool things will keep coming! ๐ป๐คฉ

2023-05-06 20:52:37 +0000 UTCThat said, if working on the extras is something you're really enjoying then just go for it. I know how working on just one thing can get tedious and I'm sure that the extra stuff helps keep the creative juices flowing. There does seem to be quite a bit of it though which is probably what has some concerned.

2023-05-06 20:43:17 +0000 UTCMy own preference would be more story and fewer extras. The extras don't really do a lot for me. It's great work but just fluff eh.

2023-05-06 20:34:08 +0000 UTCI found the game late and I do enjoy it a ton, I would, and maybe most would wish for updates every 5 seconds but that is never going to happen, my advice to the Karens out there is to buy a dildo, sit on it and be patient. To you sir, my gratitude... My honest belief is that when you suscribe to be a patreon for some project, whichever it is, you are a SUPPORTER, which means you can ask for progress but you have to make a recommendation and wait to see if it can get fulfilled, some people confuse being a supporter with being a board member and demanding stuff. You have your goals and your times to work on this nice project, stick to it, brush off the harshest Karens out there with their mean comments. And your best bet is to continue your good comms and updates, I believe the majority belong to the understanding and supporting bunch and will keep supporting, if not itยดll be sad but they can run to the next creator and demand they deliver at lightspeed for 1 dollar... letยดs see who can... Maybe with their rudeness they might get a Character or a line or two of their Karen-like attitude in a game. Keep up the hot work, ohh and the good work too, you are doing more than fine!

2023-05-06 11:35:33 +0000 UTCHey SWix! ๐ And you will keep loving it because more extra content is coming!!! ๐คฉ๐คฉ๐คฉ And I'm pretty confident that people will like V 0.08. I like what I'm seeing so far. ๐

2023-05-04 23:54:14 +0000 UTCThanks zman! Don't worry if you don't subscribe every month. Any kind of help is always appreciated. ๐ Usually is as you said, but they were top supporters in this case. One of them almost reached a year, and it frankly surprised me in a bad way. I was not expecting it, and I'm not happy at all to ban someone that has been supporting me so much for so long. Even with this incident, I'm thankful to them for the support they gave me in the past, it's a shame that it has to end this way, but words carry consequences. I'm glad that you think that the job is fab! ๐คฉ Thank you!

2023-05-04 23:50:12 +0000 UTCHey Marcial, I haven't been a follower for long but from what you write on this page it sounds like to me you have the right attitude for what you are doing. I love the extra content and the game itself obviously and can't wait for the next version when released! Cheers! ๐๐๐

2023-05-04 23:42:05 +0000 UTCFrom my own experience I find that people who pay the least expect the most. I'm sure your dedicated followers (and I'm sorry I don't subscribe every month!) appreciate everything you do and are happy to continue to support you in whatever you produce. I think you're very transparent in your progress between updates. And I wholeheartedly applaud your decision to ban the trolls out their - if it ain't constructive then what's the use saying it? Go MarcialART! You're doing a fab job ๐๐ป
2023-05-04 20:28:57 +0000 UTCYep Onur, like you said, "There is no need to ruin the artist's inspiration" ๐
MarcialART
2023-05-04 17:25:29 +0000 UTCI think you are already talking about your own art. Even if we pay for a certain thing, the job is yours. You don't have to cry, I paid for it, and if you tell me when you'll come out in a better way, I'll be glad to wait. It would be healthier to show all your reactions once the product is on the market, because there is no need to ruin the artist's inspiration. We have a proverb: ''People's mouths are not bags so that they do not shrink''. Have fun :)

2023-05-04 17:20:20 +0000 UTCHey Seamus! Extra 'candy' for everyone! Woot Woot ๐๐ Yes, and renders and animations take about 85-90% of the time in the development of the game. It's a very slow process that requires too much computer power. All the works on the socials are 100% free to everyone, in the future, I want to create also some content for higher tiers to show my appreciation, but I want the socials to be very open so everyone can enjoy extra things without paying anything extra. ๐ Thanks for the comment, Seamus!

2023-05-04 15:23:05 +0000 UTCThanks a lot Mackenzie! You are right ๐, I like the saying, "Try to please everyone, and you will please none" I think that saying is pretty accurate. I do my best, but I know it's impossible to please everyone, and there will always be critics. The important thing is that, not to let them get under my the skin. Thanks for your comment.๐๐

2023-05-04 15:22:42 +0000 UTCMan, it makes me smile knowing that you appreciate the time I'm with the community talking and replying. ๐๐๐ I do it with joy and pleasure, and always try to reply to everyone. Thank you, Gleason! I wish you a nice Thursday! ๐

2023-05-04 14:21:45 +0000 UTCYou, as all Developers, deserve Respect! If a patron does not like the pace of a project, its content or quality, they are free to stop supporting that Dev, or perhaps make respectful suggestions (not what happened in this case). Many Patrons do not understand that there is "dead space" when a Developer is waiting for the computer to process renders, animations, etc., (Yes, it might have been good for you to explain this before releasing the extra content. But more likely reality is that the trolls that attacked you in Discord probably would not have read it, cared or understood.) I appreciate the quality of the extra content, please keep it up! I also appreciate that (unlike some Devs) you provide this extra content to ALL and do not isolate it to special tiers just to grab more money. I bet that producing that content gives your brain a break from the stress of developing the game and actually energizes you, and makes you more productive overall, while providing us with extra "candy". :) Thank you.
Seamus Wilde
2023-05-04 11:18:18 +0000 UTCHey I donโt mind the extra content but I do appreciate it and I can see your working hard and I like following along with your development keep up the good work and just remember you canโt please everyone and your always going to have criticism/ critics just donโt let them get under your skin

2023-05-04 11:02:05 +0000 UTCThanks for the reply. It is worth noting that you do more than animations and coding. You also do the marketing and outreach. Plus managing relations with users. Thus you were here late last night and early this morning. Your time zone being within a few hours of mine. Yeah, lots of respect.

2023-05-04 10:32:51 +0000 UTCYes, he went straight to the point! ๐ฏ
MarcialART
2023-05-04 07:03:54 +0000 UTCHey Bazino! ๐ About the first point, it depends on lot in the organization of the dev, certain tasks like animations take a lot of time, and meanwhile, no images or animations can be done, by a lot, I mean that doing animations takes many hours. If the dev makes good use of the time, the distraction is almost not noticeable. Of course, I'm not a machine, and my management of time is not perfect, but I try to improve every day, finding ways to be more productive and being able to do more things without affecting the game development. I think I'm at a good point now, but there is still room for improvement in my time management. โ๐ So your point about 'distraction' is very fair and valid. About your second point, I'm very open with the development progress to everyone. Before starting an update, I don't do a calculation of the number of lines of code, animations needed, and images needed. I know the starting point and the finish point, but many things in the middle are made on the fly. I aim to have a 3-month release pace, and not always I've been able to achieve that, but I try, don't have any doubt about that. ๐ Sorry that I can't help with your anxiety on this point. I'm just being transparent about how I work. ๐
MarcialART
2023-05-04 07:02:17 +0000 UTCWell your not wrong
BamBam-3886
2023-05-04 06:56:30 +0000 UTCPersonally I do not have a problem with the extra content, if it's really not impacting the speed of the game development. However I'm sceptically if it's not a distraction. What I would like to have as "extra content" is more updates on the actual progress. Like "I need x images, x animations, x lines of code and so far we are at x images, x animations, x lines of code, so my goal is to finish the next update round about the xth of month x". That's something that woud help my anxiety a lot.

2023-05-04 04:34:01 +0000 UTCThat's correct, Gleason. The amount of work is overwhelming. (AAA in the gaming industry takes years to make, and some of the teams are of 100+ people and almost infinite resources - I'm talking about the best of the best, of course, for example, Cyberpunk) If the first releases are good in this niche, people can get quite impatient, as you said, wanting more. And there is nothing wrong with that. It's pretty normal, I get asked daily about the release date of V 0.08 ๐ But there is a difference between getting impatient and attacking a dev and questioning the work in front of everyone in a totally nonfriendly manner. Here we are talking about disrespect, something that I don't want in the Discord server. I respect everyone but also ask to be respected. ๐
MarcialART
2023-05-04 04:33:29 +0000 UTCMost people really have no idea of the amount of work that goes into a video game, especially for a single person working alone. So, if you half finish the game and release it, promising more, some people will get quite impatient with the wait. Of course your hope is that if you release it then, it can start to pay for itself. So, you make a trade off.
